mmmff...I've tried, and sure...some songs work, but all in all the album is just not good enough. I've had it with bands going back to their roots. Paradise Lost also bored me with their back to roots requiem..I love both bands, but I feel they've been grinding their roots enough now, move on again, please.
But ok, I'll give it ONE more try...god dang it...

A Line of Deathless Kings was all but a return-to-the-roots album, actually a bit of a step away from it again, singing primarilly clean again etc.

katatonia is boring , just another one of those stupid no-talent bands that sound exactly the same , very uninspiring.

In no order whatsoever:

Rammstein
Sybreed
Scar Symmetry
Katatonia
Metallica
Trivium
Thrice
Disarmonia Mundi
Eisbrecher
DevilDriver

(I'd put dredg, Nothingface, In Flames, Soilwork, RX Bandits, Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, Taproot, Devin Townsend, and Dagoba if it were a top 20.)

This might not be your strongest case
Like he's done on 3 other albums? It's the same as most bands do these days, make an album with a little bit from every album. Only this album was too much regression for my taste. It doesn't mean there's no good songs there. There's at least 3 songs that I like a lot..but the overall feel of the album is mediocre.

Yup!

I do agree however that the album is a bit better than mediocre. The good on it is really damned good, and the bad is really damned bad. Luckily 70% of it is good.
