Start to practise then. He didn't sound that good ten years ago. So practise a few years and then maybe you sound good too.

Actually I've always thought of his tone vastly superior to his technique. Of course he's come along way, but his tone is something special.

Agreed. He is not the most technical vocalist out there for sure, but just the sound of his voice sends shivers down my spine. He's my favourite singer.

He didn't have that tone in the early days I think.
What I love about his voice is that it's extremely clear and soothing. On discouraged ones it's so much more unclean, I didn't love his voice then like I do now, by far. I don't hear any of that clearness in the older albums

Its partly because of the good production they have now, ofcourse. But also live he has that voice, so he has definately developed.

Well your voice changes greatly as you age, but the tone was there just not as nice as it is now. His voice is much like a fine wine.

He did murder when I saw 'em last year so the answer is yes, plus on record you can do separate takes anyhow. His vox live sounded much better than the original with mikael. Very good harsh vocals, which is a style i'm usually not so fond of.

Indeed, they do Murder quite often Live, but they always end with it, and thats the only growl song they do, since his vocal cords get a brutal beating when he growls.

If that's Arjen Lucassen, it is pretty obvious that the mystery singer is Renkse

Jonas looks pissed off in that picture.

I would love to hear some growls like that in the next Katatonia album it would be amazing to hear a combination, they have never really done much of that.
