the stuff in White Pony sounded more going toward the goth rock direction, so it was expected.

but it's still quite Deftones sound...

I heard the new Deftones song on the radio the other day, it doesn't sound like Katatonia IMO. I thought it was horrible :S

I didn't think it sounded like Katatonia, but I've only heard it two or three times. I don't like the Deftones anymore, but I always thought the Static-X song "Cold" sounded like Deftones.

This is a big disappointment from The Deftones.

It sounds nothing like Katatonia

I hope it's the weakest link on the new album, coz these boys have huuuuge potential!!

That's not a fair comment, Deftones have a lot of emotional depth to their music, most Katatonia fans would probably appreciate it!!

Here's the part where I start whining, I've been a big Deftones fan since shortly after 'adrenaline' came out, so about 7 years I think. the whinig now, between busy college, stupid work and crappy local record store opening times I haven't got to even hear any of the songs. And now it has started to piss rain, and I have to walk about two miles to get home, with a stupid 30 mile train journey in between. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!!!! whine over. I'm going home to listen to 'viva emptiness', or maybe 'souvenirs'. POOH!

I won't deny that Deftones are a Nu Metal band, however they are a VERY GOOD nu metal band and represent the potential that the genre never managed to live up to.
