Secret cover compilation from fans

If you are any member or very close relative/friend of the band Katatonia, please, go away.

Ok, so some said my idea about a cover compilation was good. Maybe not, and it's not an original thing as I've seen such things at other bands but, this is it:

Forum users make covers of Kata songs and that's the compilation. If it sucks only a little then we can give it to Them as a tribute gift whatever, and still we can enjoy it ourselves, or even can distribute it through the net or this forum, if allowed.

The quality level and participants will be decided by us, here, in a democratic way.. Plus we need a nice cover design for the case.

i'm in dora,
we could also set up a small website to upload or link all the covers people make, like an "online" compilation...we could state all artists data and the development process of the cover song...
and we could make a poll for "the best cover"...

dora! start the project now!

Heh, I finished my 'I Break' cover a few days ago. It's my first recording ever though and I don't have any professional gear or recording equipment. And I can't sing

. And there's no bass yet

But the opinions from the people who've heard it differ from not bad to good, so idunno.

I would like to do a katatonia cover, but 1) I should find someone who can play/ sing with me (unless I do a cover with solo piano or guitar) 2) I should find a way to record it.

yeah.. singing is a problem for me, too...
on the other hand.. I wish we can hear some female vocals from others, I'm curious how it can sound..

...practice the song for a while before recording, try to reach the right tunes...ask someone else's opinion...

if you REALLY dont want to sing,
pass me the instrumental and i'll add some horrid screams...even DORA would like to help on the vocals...dont you??

for recording purposes try to use some kind of software like cool edit and plug-in a microphone to your sound card

For the cover art: I imagine something katatonia-like design which also features some cyber/web/PC/forum pattern..
For the covers: I think they should be fun and differ from original much.. There are lots of ppl who can play their songs, but it's not about that.

about the web: I think it should remain an insider project for us. We can promote it to fans, they can come but only after being at least a forum user here.. because I thought it was for _this community_ of ours.
Another: no sense in making cover if no place to put or send or tell or whatever. The main place for this is HERE. I like the design but that web page is early I think, theres nothing to tell to the world yet.
And I woulnd't ask for authorisation from the band until we're finished with it, and give them the cd, and no need to talk about the distribution of the songs until we know what they're like.

what do u think?

If it's supposed to be a TRIBUTE, please exclude this piece of shit. It doesn't even have an original melody line from Teargas. I will do fucking gangsta rap version of "Murder" maybe then. At least the title would fit.

Dispo: if you dont like it, thats OK, but plz dont keep insulting each other. It's not a professional type project, if your such a big artist whatever, then let us, ordinary forum members show out respect to the band the way we want it.

(I think I will do some dnb trance shit from day, with or without female vocals.. And I DO think that it would be a great idea to make a Rap song, too
