I did the whole meet and greet platinum package when I saw DT open for Yes in North America in '05, and it is still one of the greatest experiences of my life! Definately worth every cent!

I'm making the 5 minute walk from my place to Festival Hall that night. Should be fun! I'm sitting in the balcony so I can get an awesome view of proceedings, but it'd be cool to meet up with people from here.

I've got a spare ticket for Sydney (standing) should anyone want to pick it up shortly before the gig. I was stupid enough to order two tickets while smashed, and then later buy another thinking i hadn't gotten one for my little brother, which i of course had.
Speaking of which, this will be my little brothers first proper gig, not to mention i'm dragging him along to NW and Maiden shortly afterwards. He isn't a fan of metal per say (loves Silent Force, Seventh Wonder, and Masterplan almost exclusively), but i'm sure DT will blow his socks off - i know they did for me back in 04 when i was still relatively new to prog. Let's all just hold hands together and pray they don't play too much off the new album. Seriously, if they want to play Scenes and I&W in their entirety, i wouldn't say no ![]() Thank god i'll be up in Sydney...otherwise i'd be serving the entire PM's XI crowd at the Kingo. What a memorable day!
Clinic - Fucking awesome. John didnt have backing tracks made up so who should come along and play them live? Jordan Rudess of course! Was great to see John and Jordan jamming together over some progressions. Concert - Truly Amazing, got a spot on the rail in front of myung and rudess, myung is a fucking freak! Setlist was as follows: Fan made Hitler parody video! ![]() ---------------------------- Constant motion Panic attack endless sacrifice The dark eternal night (awesome animation thingy on the big screen for this one, kinda like the octavarium one) Keyboard solo Lines in the sand Forsaken I walk beside you Take the time ------------------------- Overture 1928 Strange Deja Vu Through my words Fatal tragedy Erotomania Voices It was during voices that the unthinkable happened. All the inear monitors fucked up (lost power to them or something) and the band went of stage... half an hour later they came back on an bowed, apologies for the shortened set and that was that. The shortened second set was seriously the most enjoyable concert experience iu have ever been apart of.... amazing! Unfortunately i got Myungs setlist from a roadie and got to see what we missed out on ![]() The spirit carries on In the presence of enemies (cant fucking believe we missed it, john and Jordan played the lyrical intro bit at the clinic and i creamed myself. Cant imagine seeing the whole thing!) --------------------------------- As I am Pull me under/Metropolis All in all a great show, just glad I got to see the guys live, if not for a shortened set length. We were trying to make analogies for how we felt after the show and the closest we could get was: "Its like giving birth to a child and just when you are really overwhelmed with happiness etc. the nurse accidentally drops it on its head" / ![]() Last edited by reidie : January 26th, 2008 at 06:17 PM. |

Just got back from the Adelaide DT concert.
I am utterly speechless. My first Dream Theater concert and it was fucking awesome!!! The band were tight as and sounded great considering that they were playing in a tin shed. Fortunately there were no issues like the perth concert except, I think, for a stuff up with the samples in Voices (why are there so many hassels with this song?) The set list was the same as perth minus As I Am and Lines In the Sand. Love the Keytar ![]() Last edited by Balthasar : January 28th, 2008 at 07:24 AM. |
