under the cross solo

there is a part in under the cross (min 5:13) i think the second solo?? but yeahh it sounds familar to the sweet child o' mine solo, was it meant to be like that solo or just happend?

That was Stu's solo and knowing how Stu writes, that would have come right from the feel of the song rather than drawing any direct influence from anywhere else. Stu is a really "natural" soloist where he'll look to the song for the inspiration for the solo and let that dictate what he should be playing, which is a damn good way of doing it I think!

Actually, you'd be surprised how true that is! Some of my best solos are the ones where I've just been noodling and gone "Holy shit! Glad I had the recorder running!"

Yeah, that one - complete fluke. Personally I have always disliked GnR but was going for an "adrian smith" thing - I do know what you mean though with the blues phrasing.
I am a big fan of the Slash's snakepit stuff so that's where it may have come from - nice pickup though .
