Timmay!

At the moment my brother has boardband connected to his PC, and I am wanting to get same on mine as well...but I would either need to put in a new phoneline or buy a wireless rotator to connect to his network...I was just wondering, if we do split it. Is there anyway to cap us both so we can download 512mb each instead of sharing a 1gig bandwidth and making the download tip from one scale to the other on each PC when we both want to download something.

Without setting up some kind of gateway computer with some kind of net sharing, it's not really possible.

The wireless router is the way to go but it can a be a bit fiddly to set up initially. We have that running here and all 3 computers in the house are quite happily chatting away nicely.

haha for some reason that sentence made me laugh. Could be taken out of context all too easily.

eg. talking about sex change
etc

Hey Tim, I remember reading in Guitarist Australia that Stu said he uses Bass amps for his guitars. Is this the same for you?

Yeah, in fact I was the one who turned him onto that.

He actually uses Crate guitar amps now, aparrently, but when he was using his J-Station processor, he'd run into a bass amp like I do.

Both of us ran into a standard Marshall style 300w guitar quad though.

Why the bass amp?

Well, the processor I use has everything in there I need - distortion, compression, etc. - I just need to make it louder, I don't need distortion or tone shaping or anything. So it'd either be a power amp with basic EQ to tailor the sound to the room if need be or a bass amp - which is essentially just that, but all together.

Aah nice one.

Would it be a cheaper alternative to get a nice bass amp and a real good couple of pedals?

That's essentially what I have in the processor, coupled with the fact I have 200 patches right at my feet whenever I want it and no worried about patch cables going between the individual pedals.

You can pick up a multi FX processor or pedal fairly cheap these days that sounds decent if you want to go down that route.

You can get a 300w bass amp for about $600, a processor or pedal board for about the same or less and a quad for about $700 if you look around hard enough. Not bad to think you can have a complete rig for under $2000 with ultimate flexibility.

It may not keep the tube purists happy, but it works for me and is totally reliable.

Mostly me, but Dakk, Stu and Stevo as well.

Sometime this year, there's a project coming out that I did vocal sessions for called "From Beyond" (not sure if that's the name or the working title of the project) and it's almost all low and/or growly vocals that I did. For anyone who enjoyed the heavier vocal styles on the last couple of Dungeon albums, you'd probably really dig this. And the guitar work is INSANE!

OK, let me preface this stuff and say that 1: this stuff isn't in any particular order and 2: these are my own personal opinions, essentially my FAVOURITE performers, not who I consider the best (eg: I think Steve Vai is technically superior to Gary Moore but I infinitely prefer Gary's stuff to Steve's)

Fav' 5 guitarists:
Gary Moore - his solos make me cry!
George Lynch - freaky, bizarre, angular shredding
Paul Gilbert - freak!
Tony McAlpine - speed freak but very tasteful melodies
Glen Drover - a cross between Lynch, McAlpine and Gilbert. Scary.

Fav' 5 singers:
Geoff Tate (back in the day anyway)
Bruce Dickinson
Michael Kiske
Tony Martin
John Farnham

Best gig: Megadeth/Dungeon in Serbia or Maiden in Holland
Worst gig: Dungeon - Broken Hill 1990.

I like all your picks man except I am still yet to hear Tony Martin. Paul Gilbert = Guitar God.

Nice to see Kiske there. Your top 3 singers are my top 3 :P

Try to track down Sabbath's The Headless Cross and Tyr. Godlike vocal performance on there.

Kind of Dio crossed with Don Dokken crossed with Farnham... maybe a bit of Coverdale? Raspy and a great range.
