To save clogging up the forum with a lot of questions to each band member, I've made dedicated sticky threads where you can ask whatever you like (within reason, keep it as free from whoring as you can, please - no "so, LT, what did you eat for breakfast lol" posts. The mods will not appreciate it.)

Here's a question:
In the interest of saving space, why do you not combine all of these "Questions" thread into a single 'Ask the Band" thread? It does save a lot of time, effort and crossover.

Karyn suggested that too.
My reasoning is that by having separate threads, people are more likely to direct questions to the other guys besides me so you can get to know them a little better. Maybe later on I'll combine them. ![]() |

Guitar, very rarely. My hands are absolutely fucked now and it's not real pleasant.
Vocals, no - there's nowhere here to practice them. Having said that, now that we're getting into the pre-production of The Final Chapter, I'm in the studio a lot and giving my voice a good workout now, so I expect to get it back into great shape pretty soon (whenever I have a long downtime between gigs or rehearsals, I lose a lot of control and power that I have to gradually get back if I don't want to injure myself). |

I was hoping you could offer some good ideas where to practice vocals. I need a fucking sound proof room to practice hours per day. Sucks about the hands dude. I don't know what I would do without guitar.

Sweeping... well, it's all about muting the strings that you don't want to hear (ie: as you drag down, the string you previously played) and rolling your fingers.
Start slow, use a metronome, and have lots of patience. ![]() |

Man, I was lucky when I was beginning - I started singing along to records and just found out I could do it. I just kept pushing myself to hit the notes and I could do it eventually.
I think eventually it dawned on me what vibrato was and when I should breathe, etc. and most of the stuff I learned as I went along with Dungeon or from reading stuff on the net or whatever. I never really warm up as such either, I normally sing something within my range that's fairly easy for me, rest, hydrate my voice, then get back into it. Normally, when my voice is in good shape, that's all I need. At the moment, I have to work harder to get into it until it's back into proper form, so I take it a bit easier how I do stuff. As far as my hands go, yeah - my wrists are pretty much dead and need a lot of time off (that I can't give them) and I have all kinds of joint problems in my fingers, and especially my thumbs. I'm looking into getting some physio for them soon, actually. |

![]() Useful threads Tim. At first I thought there was just too many sticky threads but after reading them I've noticed they provide opportunities for people to ask the band questions without it clogging up ther forum! ![]()

![]() Yes I also agree with asking about that question. Can the Lord still play when he is boozed. I am guessing the accuracy goes down but the pain becomes less. |

Jeff Loomis from Nevermore is apparently quite the alcoholic guitar god too and i've never heard anyone say they've seem him play sloppy.
I have one beer and i can barely form a chord. |

You're lucky to stand after two beers, so that's not saying much

I remember Metal For The Brain in 2001 (me / Dale / Dakk / Stevo lineup) and because of the horror circumstances of the weekend that involved breaking down on the way, lost wallets, etc. etc. both me and Dakk decided that we'd both rather be drunk all weekend! HAHA! By the time we got on stage.... I remember trying to drink heaps of water before getting on so I wouldn't be so wasted, but that was negated by Zoran from Dark Order getting up on stage and giving us bourbon while we played (Dakk was particularly rock and roll, sculling it as Zoran poured it while he was still thrashing out a bassline! HAHA!). I did OK that night and was fairly trashed! As a wacky side-note to that, I ended up at the after party dirty-dancing with a lesbian, interestingly enough. Needless to say that A: I don't dance so it was pretty ludicrous and B: Obviously I didn't get any... athough the girl she went home with was pretty cute... I think... Then I nearly got into a fist fight with someone waiting for a cab after that! HAHA! Great night! But I digress! ![]() Yes, I can play fairly well drunk and vocally (except for pronunciation of some words ) I'm as good as when I'm sober! Tim, on the other hand - that guy turns into fucking Geoff Tate when he's drunk! HAHA! Ask the residents of Alkmaar in Holland if they appreciated our Queensryche duet at 4am, they'll tell you! HAHAHA! |

Hi Tim,
I'm sorry to say that I had never heard of Dungeon until last year, which was when I made a trip from NZ to Brisbane specially to see Megadeth. I didn't know then that I was in for a real surprise. During your set I was asking myself 'who the hell are these guys??..they kick ass!!' Anyway, since then i've collected all your albums and have become a huge fan..now I can't get enough Dungeon/Lord. My question is, are you planing on bringing the band over to New Zealand anytime soon? Thanks mate Geoff |

Actually, we were in talks with a guy who was gonna organise a Dungeon tour to NZ before the band folded. There's a good chance we'll still be taking him up on that offer with LORD sometime in the future.
