I'd be curious to see what tone you're getting out of them. I found a V-AMP (had a V-AMP 2, blue kidney shaped pod rip off) to be little more than abysmal... I even find i can pull much better tones out of Computer based software amp simps (revalver, and a freebie called wagner sharp) and going DI...

We did an album and sent it off to an incredible audio engineer, and with all his skill he made the guitars sound nothing spectacular... just not hideous, which is what the V-amp delivers i believe. www.myspace.com/knightmaremetal to hear said guitar tone) Not his fault at all, it's simply he wasn't really given much good to work with, seeing we did all the guitars through a V-amp with the cab sim off and to be run through speaker sims later... which was better than the cab sims that come with the v-amp, but still pretty poor.

I couldn't find a way to get any nice tone out of a V-amp, I sold it a month or so ago and I was glad i got what i did for it... Like I said, just going on my own experience, but Behringer is a lot cheaper than a lot of stuff and I think in some cases you're getting what you pay for.

Weirdly enough, Edguy used V-amps on their last 2 tours here and their live sound was killer... so it really comes down to the programming and the combination of the effects, amp and quad I think. For example, the PODxt sounds like rubbish out of the box but with some programming it sounds great. But even in spite of that, there's some amps that we've used on tour with our PODs that just sound like absolute shit, even though the amps themselves sound awesome for their own thing.

Maybe there are some great high end models, but i've heard a few Laney amps (and owned one) and wasn't impressed.

Time to show off my newest acqusition, I am proud to announce my brand new Paul Reed Smith Tremonti model in black sunburst -

This is one hell of an awesome guitar, 22 frets, 25" scale, the most awesome PRS trem (like a Floyd without a locking nut), PRS Phase II locking tuners, the hottest Pickups PRS make, Tremonti Bass & Treble, all set up for 52-10 by the master luthier Phil Haworth.

The top is a 10 top which is a special type of american maple which is stunning in person.

Through my amp (Randall RM100M), the cleans are crystal, distorted tones are beautiful and lead tones just as amazing.

My first reaction was

Have to bring it down to the studio eventually Tim...

What issues could be caused by plugging a bass guitar into an electric guitar amp + quad?
I've emailed Peavey customer support who said that the JSX head would not be damaged, but the speakers might cause a problem. I run through a cab with 4x Celestion Vintage 30 speakers.
What's the possibility of damaging them if I run a bass through it from time to time?

If you watch your transients and your low end, you should be OK.

Bass has a LOT more energy output than guitar because to get the same perceived loudness out of a low frequency as a high one you need to crank it a lot more, which is generally why you have much more powerful bass amps than guitar amps. Because of that, any transients like pops or hard plucks will really smack your speakers, along with it having a very large excursion size because of the lower frequencies.

The amp should be absolutely fine, although it may break up a little earlier than it would with a guitar (you'll run out of perceived headroom faster), but watch your speakers. Guitar speakers just aren't designed for extreme low end material and extremely large transient spikes. Keep your volume down a little and roll off a fair bit of low end (which will sadly make the bass sound a little thinner than you'd probably like) and you should be fine.
