OK, we have quite a lot of musicians on here and there's going to be a lot of questions about instruments, amps, studio gear, etc. etc.
Ask away in this thread! ![]() |

Ok ok ok. To start off, ill ask recommendations of good amps with awesome distortion (Without needing a pedal) and good cleans (nothing fantastic, just something I can play with)
So far, Im going to check out (When I get the time); Peavy XXX Randall RG50t Peavy 5150II/6505II (whatever the diff is) any others I should check out. I guess I play all types of metal.. Also, something that will complement the EMG 81 and 85. Ive also checked out the ENGL screamer or something (not too sure) Didn't like it a whole lot tbh. |

It's all down to personal taste really. I can't really talk much about it cause I've only played a few different pedals, but my own ones (Pearl "P-100TW's.. a couple models down from the "Eliminators") are fucking awesome in my opinion and were not too expensive (second hand for like 380 or so). From what I gather, Axis are pretty much up there with the best, but I've also heard that about Iron Cobras, which I've played before and didn't like the feel of very much, hence why I say it's a personal taste thing.

It really depends on the style you use... Iron Cobra's are notoriously heavy pedals which will work great if you play with all of your leg. Whereas Axis are the opposite end, light as all hell and brilliant for ankle players
Personally I love the Yamaha Flying Dragons... perfect match of the Axis direct drive but with a bit more "grunt" in the build

ok umm... I have a Jackson JS-30 - Nice feel, nice action, playable, but definitely not good at taking wear and tear. The "lisenced under" Floyd Rose bridge is also very flimsy after a bit of intense of use... i don't use mine anymore because it doesn't return even remotely in tune, although ive pointed this out before and have recieved advice, im just saying... you pretty much get what you pay for.
My amp on the other hand, is fantastic! only problem is it isn't loud enough for a concert - 40 watts. It's a peavey Envoy 110 and I would record with it because the tone it gives is fantastic. |

From the Pearl website:
Interchangeable Cam System The interchangeable cam system features four uniquely shaped cams. The Black Cam is Pearl’s original linear-feel cam for smooth, well-balanced action. The White Cam is also linear but larger in diameter for a lighter feel and increased power. The Blue cam is offset and starts with a light feel at the beginning of the stroke and accelerates with speed and power upon impact. The Red cam is radically offset and provides great response for sensitive footwork and extreme power upon impact. Two other cams are available for purchase separately: the Purple CAMPL and the Yellow CAMYL Cams. The Purple Cam has a feel that is in between the Blue and Red cams while the Yellow Cam has a unique "top heavy" feel that generates the most power of all the cams. All cams attach and detach easily at the push of a button. ![]() |
