I have a bit of a n00b question.
Why, when I open a DVD on my PC through Media Player or whatever program, and I drag it onto a second monitor to watch, it doesn't show up? It works with video files, but not with DVDs or ripped DVD files. Is there anyway around this? Possibly ripping DVDs into video files?

Thanks Ferret! I hope it works, don't have much time to try it now though
![]() I have another question: (Yes, my computer is shit) When people send me songs through MSN Messenger as a file, they download then when I go to open them, a box comes up saying "Windows has blocked this file as it could be potentially dangerous" (Or something along those lines) Then it has another part to say how to unblock the file, to go find where you saved it and go to properties and click 'unblock'. I always save it in "My Music" My problem: The file is never there to be unblocked, even through it is where I've saved it. So I can't listen to awesome music people send me ![]() My question: How do I change this so the file doesn't get blocked in the first place? Is it something to do with the firewalls, or security...I really need help!

I've got that as well... I just never click to open the file through MSN. Sure it's a band-aid solution but it works haha

Another quick band-aid fix that springs to mind mightn't be much help if the point of dragging to the second monitor is so you can work on the first at the same time, but you could change your display settings to the second monitor's output is a clone of the first display. Quote:
It doesn't "block" the file. MSNM doesn't monitor transfers for "potentially dangerous" files so you can send pretty much whatever you want and it should work fine, external factors allowing. Once the transfer is completed it is copied to whatever pre-designated folder your transfers are stored in and you can go there with Explorer to confirm this. The problem is when you click the "xxxxx.mp3 has completed transferring" (or whatever the message says) to open the file from within MSNM, THAT is when it checks whether the file is of one of the blacklisted formats. If it is, it deletes the file and gives you the blocked message. Todd has the right idea- just don't open it from within MSNM. If you do, kiss the file byebyes- you need to transfer it again. The other solution involves a hex editor and more procedure than I care to detail. You can use MessPatch but be very careful what options you enable as it has a tendency of completely fucking your client and requiring you to reinstall MSNM.

OH MY GOD, I AM ABOUT TO KILL MY COMPUTER!!!!!
The same thing that is happening with my phone, is happening with my camera. When I go into the Device Manager, there is a exclamation mark next to "Kodak Digital Camera" and it says: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" So it knows the camera is in there, and I've already tried registring my Kodak software, which never seemed to work. Anyone have any sorts of suggestions? My camera is a Kodak V530.

![]() Sami- Uninstall the drivers for the camera and phone from the device manager (right-click -> Properties -> "Drivers" tab -> Uninstall). Use the Add/Remove Programs utility in Start Menu -> Control Panel to uninstall any dependant software for both the phone and camera. REBOOT (don't be lazy, it really is important). Install ONLY the camera. See if it works without hiccups from there. If it does, reboot again, THEN install the phone drivers and software. A few possible causes spring to mind but hopefully it's only something minor like a resource conflict (eg- fighting over the same IRQ). If not, post again with results. PS- You shouldn't need any Kodak software at all. Pretty much all software included with cameras is bloatware crap. When you hook the camera up, it should appear under "My Computer" and you should be able to browse the installed media card as if it were another hard drive.
