I dont think its very good. Any list that does not have Pete Sandoval, Dave Lombardo, Nicolas Barker, Flo Mournier and Horgh in the top 10 is a sham

IMHO.

Ofcourse its not going to be perfect Spawn. Those lists never are. But atleast it actually listed good drummers like Virgil, Portnoy, Lombardo etc and didnt have the 'popular' Dave Grohl/Lars/the guy from Pearl Jam in the top 10.

The order might be a little whacky, but its alot better than I have seen from this kind of thing

The only problem I really have with it is that Charlie Watts and Phil Rudd aren't there. Rudd's gotta be the most minimalistic drummer of all time, but surely the tightness of his playing counts for a lot.

Yeah, he's definitely a better drummer than some of the guys on that list.

Steve Gadd finally gets a mention.

Justice.

Also, I hate you Spawny, you aren't allowed to go and name drop Flo Mournier unless you own every cryptopsy album in it's original pressing.

I am allowed to though,

Yeah I reckon some of them made the list on popularity rather than ability.

Neil Peart is number 1. Good to see SOMEONE knows how to do a best drummers list... *grumble* And Mr McBrain is there - surprising for Rolling Stone to even acknowledge Maiden.

Well, they acknowledged Death and Dimmu Borgir too, and that's far more surprising.

Is this a legitimate list? It just doesn't sound like Rolling Stone at all, apart from the top five.

Such lists will never be too accurate, but it is one of the better ones I've seen.

Jimmy Chamberlain is a great drummer, if you see them play FUCK YOU (an ode to no one) live on their videos DVD, he goes off tap.

Travis Barker is WAAAY too low.

Top 20 seems pretty good for a Rolling Stone list. I disagree with a few of the choices, but compared to their other lists, this one is actually pretty good.

There are some great drummers in there. I mean drummers that play with great musicianship, taste, technique etc, not just guys who play average (or worse) drums in a band that sells a lot of records (although there are some of those in the list too). It's much better than that ballsup of the 100 greatest guitarists.

When asked if he thought Ringo Star was the best drummer in the world by a reporter, John Lennon replied "Ringo? He's not even the best drummer in the band!" I think he's a sweety and I love the Beatles but if I ever see him in a poll above Roger Taylor and Dave Grohl again, I will have him shot.

These lists are a bunch of spunk.
