The Purchases Thread
Much like the 'I bought the coolest cd' thread over at the Dungeon/Lord forum, I thought we could have a single on going thread for people to post their hauls and other purchases in. I will start.
Yesterday I bought: Sepultura - Dante XXI In Flames - The Jester Race/Black-Ash Inheritance Kaiser Chiefs - Employment I look forward to chucking on the new Seps this arvo.

My last couple of purchases (as opposed to the free ones I get sent) were:
Ozzy Osbourne - Under Cover Ruins - Spun Forth as Dark Nets The Ruins one is awesome. The Ozzy one is OK.

Last week I bought:
Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime II Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium Still haven't listened to them yet. Well, I've listened to half of the Ryche one, not da Peps though. I never get time. |

The first single from Stadium Arcadium is pretty generic crap. It disappointed me, and left me in no hurry to check out the album. I should though, there is rumours they will headline next years Big Day Out.

I saw it on Rage. The clip was better than the song.

Thats the one.
After another listen, I did enjoy Dante XXI more. I will listen again tomorrow. Today I won ebay auctions for: The Tea Party - Triptych Kreator - Enemy Of God CD/DVD edition

Got my hands on the Chili Peppers one, it is actually a bloody good album, they cover all the styles they have laid down in 20 years of recording, there is some real shit, but then there is some fucking awesome gear, but I reckon d/load a few tracks before going and spending the dough on a 2 disc album you mightn't listen too

It seemed pale compared to The Jester Race for some reason, but I did enjoy it. Just seemed similar yet inferior or something. I do intend to give it another chance though, because it has the similar sound that I like.

The same as RHCP, I saw the clip and the song seemed generic. I haven't heard a Pearl Jam song I liked since Yield came out. Just seems like they burnt out long ago but keep kicking because they can. U2 seem a bit like that at times too.

You could use the same argument with most bands that have been around for 20 years really.

If RHCP could do more funky stuff I'd be more willing to give them a go. Too much of what I hear of them is bland and radio-friendly.
I havne't listened to In Flames for a while. Both Whoracle and The Jester Race are great, with the latter being heavier.

Well both RHCP and Pearl Jam have realeased bloody good albums just a few weeks apart, they may have burnt out a while ago, but in the case of PJ it seems like they have got a bit of the fire back, as for RHCP, I nevr thought they lost it

RHCP have had some good stuff here and there. Pearl Jam on the other hand really just seem to be drifting along in first gear. You could say that about many bands that have been around for over 15 years, but not all. I think Maiden are a great example of a band that that doesn't apply to. Dance Of Death is a shit hot album that is on a par with some of their older material. I don't think many would say that about what Pearl Jam have done in more recent times.

I use to love PJ, but after.. yield and no code- they just didn't interest me. Those two albums put me off. The first two albums are still good to listen to.. New one might be interesting..
Whoracle and Jester Race are good, though I prefer JEster. Great album. Didn't mind Colony either, it had its moments. Picked up Therion's 'Celebrators of Becoming'. Haven't had a chance to go through all the material (4 DVDs), but damn the live show looks and sounds good. Also picked up Eternal Tears of Sorrow's new album 'Before the Bleeding Sun'. I think it's a pretty good album Perhaps not as strong as their previous two releases, but still very cool.
