2009 already promises to be a massive year for Switzerland`s SAMAEL: the fourpiece is about to embark on a big European tour early January, supporting DEICIDE. The tour will be followed by the release of "Above" on March 6th – a pure Black Metal album that is more than just a nod in the direction of old SAMAEL masterpieces such as "Ceremony of opposites" and "Passage"!!!

That's some mighty photoshopping. The spirograph around the heart is kinda shitty though.

I also hear the album is somewhat of a return to form.

Any long term fans of the band will be familiar with the drifting away from their original sound over the last few albums. Apparently this new one features a "heavier" sound reminiscent of "Ceremony Of Opposites" and "Blood Ritual"
I think i'll have to give it a listen.

I love Samael! Caught them back in '05 when I didn't really know who they were and was blown away! Seeing them once or twice this year in Europe. Can't wait!
