UltimateMetal Seeks New Reviewers
Again, the webzine is growing and the current staff simply can't keep up with the sudden influx of demands. We're looking for reviewers based in the United States or Canada. Serious applicants only - please don't waste our time if you know you are unqualified. Requirements are as follows:
Update: We are especially looking for individuals into hardcore, metalcore, power, and progressive metal.
Reviewers
- must be willing and able to work well with others
- must be knowledgeable in regards to metal, though we acknowledge that with experience comes knowledge and that there's always room for improvement, growth, etc.
- must be into a variety of styles, though we try to cater to preferences somewhat
- must be a writer who needs little improvement from the get-go
- must be willing to contribute regularly for a long while
- no quotas, but must be willing to contribute reviews frequently and consistently
- interviews not necessary, though encouraged
If interested, and we hope you are, e-mail Nathan Pearce (USA/Canada) and Russell Garwood (world) with the following:
- a brief bio (let us know what you think we should know)
- a few sample reviews (reviews of albums you like and dislike; mix it up!)
- any interviews you've conducted before
*All reviews/interviews should be attached to an e-mail, and be in Microsoft Word format. Please allow Nate and Russell some time to get back in touch with you - they're busy guys!
Thanks!

Give it a go, if you want. Email Russell, though, since you are closer to him than Nate.

I've thought about it, but I really dislike 99% of the crap being spewed forth from labels, and my mommy said if I can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

No really do it J
What metal needs is people to speak the fucking truth, which is that 97% (exact figure) of everything being released is redundant and/or utter bollocks

QFT: What is needed is more 0/10 CoB reviews that cause flamewars from the fanboys and other fun things.
Then again, J.'s taste is seemingly completely arbitrary, so him writing could be chaotic. Wait... chaotic? SOMEONE SIGN HIM UP!

If you're going to submit, I would do it right now. I can't promise anything, though. Russell can shed more light on this at any rate.

How would the interviews work? (travel etc...) or are they via aim or something?

@ Everyone: I've edited the post now, since I believe we have all the new reviewers we need. As you can see, we're still looking for an interviewer.
@ WNxScythe: Format is pretty open, but limited to the following: face-to-face, phone, and e-mail. They're easy to set up, for the most part. Anyway, AIM isn't really an option for an official interview, though I've used it as a pre-interview to gather more information before I sit down to pen my questions.
@ Zack: I'll get back to you soon, man. PM received.

And it should be noted that you'd still get promos of the new albums from bands you are interviewing!

Hi, I just wanted to tell you a couple of things about a band I discovered on Myspace. Thier name is "Torsion." They are a rock band with a female singer. They have been on Myspace for 9 month's and have over 14,000 friends and 60,000 plays. Those numbers alone should make you curious to check them out. They also have 4 songs on Myspace that you can download if you like them...For Free! This is part of thier "Word of Mouth" campaign. If you like what you hear please tell some friends about them too! Thanks for taking the time here is the link:

Whenever, pretty much. Often evenings tho, as that's when it suits the label best. We have all the staff we need right now tho (see first post)
