Dyls, do you realise that we've both left Funeral - From These Wounds off our lists?

Off the top of my head I think these would be the most sonically and emotionally intense albums for me:
1. Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse 2. Opeth - Morningrise 3. Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines 4. Isis - Oceanic 5. Jesu - Conqueror 6. Agalloch - The Mantle 7. Suffocation - Pierced from Within 8. Neurosis - Times of Grace 9. Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness 10. Enslaved - Below the Lights (this is a tough call between BtL, Darkthrone's Under a Funeral Moon and Death's Symbolic) |

Holy crap! I remember listening to these guys ages ago. There are a few good bands if you can drag yourself through the countless piles of shit in the Visual Kei genre.

Hoorah, someone who has an idea on visual kei... and yes it requires a lot of sifting. I think Malice Mizer were the most well known, shame they disbanded although Mana went and formed Moi Dix Mois, sort of a goth speed metal sort of thing and Gackt is like some sort of pop god over in Japan. Dir En Grey seem to be getting a lot of recognition within the international market...

Indeed, Ghost Reveries wasn't really up to par and although Watershed was good for a few listens it isn't an album that stays with you I guess.
