^Awesome, Ben!!! Sounds like you had an excellent time; great review! Did you happen to take any pictures?
I thought I read somewhere that Tuomas is producing the upcoming Eklipse album, so that may be why they were chosen as an opening act? |

Well, it sounds like you had an amazing time just the same!
I hope more of our European friends will pay us a visit as the tour rolls on and let us know how the shows are. |

Just wanted to add that they switched up the setlist again near the end of the European tour. Somewhere along the line they included Come Cover Me, as I previously reported. But I have now found evidence they have brought back Dark Chest of Wonders, and Ever Dream!
So FUCKING excited for the US tour! |

^ Likewise.
I really hope they'll be able to snag John Two Hawks for the US tour also. Creek Mary's Blood is one of my very favorites and I've never gotten to see it live... Being on the East coast I suppose I shouldn't get my hopes too high for that one since I believe he lives on a Lakota reserve... Which would be over in... South Dakota? That sounds about right. They're an upper plains tribe, but I can't remember for the life of me where their reserve wound up... As a Native myself I'm a little ashamed to have forgotten; my own tribe lived next door to them for crying out loud! And I still managed to lose them. Grrr... South Dakota sounds right though... Meh, I digress anyway, point is he's not exactly living down the street from NYC or Philly, so they may not want to drag him all the way over there... ![]() |

^We've already been told by JTH's webmaster that if he plans to be on any of the tour stops, OSA will be the *first* to know!
Not only that, but he told us that JTH had planned to be at the Gibson show, but he played a sold-out show on the East Coast the night before and could not make it on such short notice. But since he does play all over the world, you never know at which Nightwish shows he'll make an appearance. ![]() Desi: That's awesome news! I really hope "Dead to the World" makes it back to the setlist too. |

It just seems like the shows he has done with them here have all been in the Midwest, so it doesn't seem very likely that I will see a show with him because I don't see myself ever being able to travel that far.

^I had to scroll back up to see where I said that, and I actually said that he had a sold-out show on the East Coast the night before the Gibson gig, and that's why he wasn't able to make it at the last minute.
![]() But his webmaster says he plays everywhere, so who knows where he might turn up, depending on his tour schedule? I certainly wouldn't mind if he managed to make it to the West Coast shows; I was just saying that it seems like the times he has played with the band, they've all been shows in the Midwest. Too bad he couldn't just become an unofficial member of the band like Troy has. Our "unofficial" mascot! ![]()

^Kiitos, Enigma!
This was just added to our Facebook. Was a little disheartened to hear they aren't gonna keep playing "Come Cover Me", but maybe fan reaction for it will heighten again. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?

Yeah, really. I would have thought "Angel" would get the most ho-hum crowd reaction by now, as opposed to an older song that they don't play *that* often.

Howdy-ho, just back from the Ruisrock festival in my hometown. I hesitated to go but went anywhere, and so did ca. 30,000 other people as well. NW gave us a pretty awesome gig. I might put down a line or two about it and load some photos if anyone is interested.

Sorry, guys, took a while...
This years’s Ruisrock festival, one of the two oldest in Europe and the 43rd in order by the way, attracted a total of 63,000 people, and the biggest crowd of ca. 30,000 was in attendance on Saturday 7th July – when NW was the headliner and the last act of the night on the main stage. The setlist: Storytime Wish I Had an Angel Amaranth Scaretale I Want My Tears Back Come Cover Me Finlandia (Jean Sibelius cover) Planet Hell Dark Chest of Wonders Nemo Over the Hills and Far Away (Gary Moore cover) Song of Myself Last Ride of the Day Nothing new really, but a solid, good set nevertheless. I was particularly happy to hear Dark Chest, one of their very best IMO. I think the crowd was pretty into it, particularly for a Finnish crowd. But then again it wasn’t only Finns; a Hungarian guy and several Chinese people stood next to me. What I very much like about NW is the diversity of the fan base; the front row was solidly manned by mostly teenagers, but the Hungarian guy was prolly a bit older than me, maybe mid-40s, and a Finnish chap right behind us was at least 15 years senior of me. And everyone was enjoying the show and being into it, great fun. I got all sweaty, felt the heat of the pyro (ca. 3rd row), lost my voice pretty much and I’m feeling somehow rejuvenated. Wifey of course is laughing at me, but hey, there’s always a price to pay. This festival experience was actually the first one for me since like 20-or-so years. I’ve got not entirely happy gig/festival memories from my teen years, got punched a couple of times and such, so I was a bit apprehensive at first about going at all. I was pleasantly surprised – yeah, Finns still drink a lot, but didn’t see a single aggressive person, everyone I talked with was actually friendly and the general atmosphere was cheerful. I might go again, especially for NW. C, how do I go about with the photos? Email them to you or can I load to the site directly? Which size, any other requirements? Captions possible/wanted? |
