It takes guts to work outside what you know. The communication age may have rendered the planet a global village, but certain styles and genres remain resolutely based within national borders. So, for a German band to successfully nail an oeuvre as steadfastly American South as blues and country is worth a round of applause.

Don’t Worry Little Baby is an entertaining romp. It combines the dolefully humorous outlook of
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, the beefy rockabilly riffs of
House of 100 Corpses-era
Rob Zombie and the thudding rhythms and coarse vocal stylings of old-school delta blues into an intense and primally catchy album that has the toes tapping and the fingers clicking with abandon. It’s a down and dirty guilty pleasure that would be the perfect sound track to an open-topped road trip through the bayous.
Like most country music, it suffers from a lack of variety – the rhythms are virtually identical from one track to the next, and it’s easy to lose track of where you are. But on the whole, it’s a fun experience. Settle back with a bottle of Jack, a campfire and a twinkle in your eye, and let
