Candlemass
Yeah, I know they've been discussed here before, but I'm extremely late to the party. I ordered the Essential Doom collection from The End and have been listening to it over the past week. It's a recent greatest hits disc through most of their classic albums, not including any of their recent albums. I figured this would be a good place to start as an introduction to the band, and it only cost $9.00 on clearance and it had a bonus DVD with a 5-song live performance.
I really like this stuff, especialy something like Dark Reflections, which is much faster and catchier than any of the other songs. I have to admit that I was hoping that The Well of Souls was about Raiders of the Lost Ark, since that is what immediately comes to mind when I hear that phrase. Just thought I'd let you know that I'm slowly getting on board the Candlemass/doom train. ![]() |

Welcome!! Better late than never!
Too bad you weren't into them sooner, as they toured this year. First time in the States in 17 years. Given the piss poor turnout, I don't expect a return anytime soon, though maybe if they get offered a package tour or something. Are you into Solitude Aeturnus at all? If so, I highly recommend their latest, with Rob Lowe on vocals. It is quite stellar. Also EPICUS DOOMICUS METALICUS is essential metal listening, for ANY metal fan.

Really? I'll have to re-read the lyrics. This compilation didn't come with anything other than a goofy poster of the band that looked pretty 80's to me. I glanced at the lyics to Well of Souls online and it seemed more satanic to me than anything else.
I have too many albums that I want right now to go through and buy the prior catalog, and this seems to be a decent hits package for now. If I keep getting into the band even further, I'll probably get the last few albums. |

If I were a cartoon artist, I would totally create a mythical comic entitled DOOMICUS! He would rule the wasteland with his deadly smoke, which would be the result of his massive bong hits. His weapon would be a Gibson SG. He would be the REAL Iron Man!!!!!!!

You have NOTHING to buy until you first own Epicus. That's like waking up and saying, "oh well, someone stole my copy of Reign In Blood....."
