Your Top 2008 releases so far...

The year is almost over, and I always mean to compile my list of favorites of the year, but usually by the time I remember it's like halfway through the next year already LOL So I'm getting a jumpstart on it and listing some cds that I think were the tops for me in '08. Curious to know what you guys thought were the best of the best this year, too.

In no particular order yet....

Metallica- Death Magnetic
Septic Flesh- Communion
Hail Of Bullets- ...Of Frost And War
Moonspell- Night Eternal
Nachtmystium- Assassins: Black Meddle pt. 1
Daylight Dies- Lost To The Living
Testament- Formation Of Damnation
Meshuggah- Obzen
Zimmers Hole- While You Were Shouting At The Devil...
Jeff Loomis- Zero Order Phase
Klimt1918- Just In Case We'll Never Meet Again
Ours- Mercy (Dancing For The Death Of An Imaginary Enemy)

I think that's it so far....I'm probably forgetting some but I'll add it later if I think of them.....

EDIT-- Yep, knew I'd forget a couple!! Added them now...

Draconian - Turning Season Within
Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thundergod
Daylight Dies - Lost to the Living

Biggest dissapointment - Opeth's Watershed...ugh

Kinda financially embarassed this year, you know what I mean? Got a few-1) The Maniacal Vale-Esoteric.2) Obzen-Meshuggah.3) Formation of Damnation-Testament. I picked up the re-master of Sculptured Ivy and Stone Flowers-Novembers Doom if that counts for this year.5) The White EP-Agalloch. 6) In Rainbows-Radiohead. And on October 20, I'll be getting Alloy-Skepticism, Journeys to Unknown Lands-Pantheist and Vertabrae-Enslaved.

I'm not even sure I can name anything other then Hail of Bullets that blew me away this year so far.

1. Hail of Bullets "...Of Frost and War"
2. Coldplay - Viva La Vida
3. Satyricon - The Age of Nero
4. Metallica - Death Magnetic

That's really it for me.

(edit: Added Satyricon)

didn't hear the Moonspell and Septic Flesh yet, i'll try and check those out.

liked the Nachtmystium, but it hasn't quite stayed in rotation.
the new Enslaved is growing on me a lot; finally listened to Ruun this year and it's fantastic. they're totally bridging that King Crimson/prog style with a touch of black metal- really good stuff.

Domkirke by Sunn O)))!! What a great album, other than that:

Opeth - Watershed
Daylight Dies - Lost to the living
Cynic - Traced in Air
bloodbath - Unblessing The Purity (Ep)

The bloodbath Lp really let me down in terms of production, it sounds way too weak and flawed, compositions are great but the productions sucks my energy life, Unblessing sounded sooooo much better
