I read something on the Thirsty Whale board (yeah, that says it all right there...) and a Sox fan was saying "The Sox made it further than the Cubs!" Oooooh, they went to Game 4 and lost it all instead of Game 3, though neither team made it out of the series successfully. Sox fans will find any way to make themselves look better, eh?

It's too bad the Cubs fell apart like that - it looked like it was their year all summer long!

When it's good natured joking or ribbing it's one thing, but one thing I can't stand about being in Chicago is when I see people getting shitty with each other over baseball teams. They're fucking baseball teams, folks.

I don't mean anyone in this thread particularly but just in general. People get way too caught up in this ridiculous shit.

For the record.....I like both teams. That seems to short-circuit some people's minds when I tell them that because they can't fathom how I can't pick a side. Much like how I feel about alot of music, film, etc., I don't have just one favorite that I align myself with. I just like watching a good game, I don't care who it is. Next they should just form two more Chicago teams, for the east and west sides, and then we can divide everyone up and make them choose. Eventually we'll take a bunch of them and make all four sides fight to the death with weapons inside Solider's Field, lol.

And like I said, poking fun in a silly way, like we do to you and Vito about power metal, is fine. It's when people take this shit seriously that it irks me. I'm sure you've been out and about at work or at a bar or wherever and seen/heard plenty of people who really take this shit seriously. I've seen fistfights start over Cubs vs. Sox,

I have a lot of friends who are DIE-HARD Sox fans, so I get shit on if I miss watching one Cubs game. (IE - "Yea, just like a CUBS fan to miss the game", etc)

Well, there is a lot of $$$$$ in being passionate about bands, sports teams, etc.......

I would love to own shares of stock in Iron Maiden and KISS merchandise, for example....
