anyone thought of trying this?
i have recorded drums and found myself swapping the cymbals out by hand because the drummer either has shitty cymbals or the condensers i placed dont sound amazing, i was curious have you guys ever thought of recording each cymbal with low gain so that only the hits of that specific cymbal is micd in order to just trigger samples automatically? i am thinking about giving this a try, or is there another quick way to record the drummer but sample replace specific cymbals or catch the hits and turn into midi?

Triggering REAL cymbals is pretty hard to do.
Check out the zildjan GEN series cymbals or whatever they are called, they might be right up your alley.
