2006 OPETH POLL - SEEDING RESULTS

Okay - you voted for them and here they are. I have arranged the 64 songs into four brackets, each numbered 1 through 16. The first-round match-ups will be 1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15 etc. The format of the bracket ensures that 1 and 2 in each bracket cannot meet until the final. Also, none of the first round matches (and most of the potential second round matches) involve songs from the same album. I tried to balance the albums as well.

Here's what you should do: Take the percentage for each one. Let's say that April Ethereal is leading Weakness 19:1. That's 95%-5%. Use a random number generator. If 1-95 comes up AE wins. If 96-100 comes up, Weakness wins. This would be more fun, because we all know that The Moor, or Bleak will win in the end, so there's no point. It would be just like March Madness, because you'll get upsets that no one sees coming. Orchid and Morningrise will get raped in this poll because I think there are still quite a few members that haven't heard those albums.

Lindgren Bracket: Pretty weak if you ask me. Bleak is not one of Opeth's top four songs. Patterns in the Ivy II and Nectar are way too low on the list. I'm sure Bleak will win since there are few strong songs here. None of Opeth's live staples are here

Lopez Bracket: This is the most balanced and fair bracket. Everything is just about right as far as the order goes. Any of those top three could win, but I think the SL fanboys overpower the BWP fanboys and The Moor will beat The Drapery Falls.

Mendez Bracket: Top six songs are strong, but 7-16 are rather bad. Very unbalanced compared to the other brackets. Wreath 7? No way. Advent should win, but Demon or GoP probably will.

Wiberg Bracket: This is the powerhouse bracket. This one is loaded with live favorites. 1-7 are probably better than any of the top songs in the Lindgren bracket. How do you put the mighty Deliverance, BWP, and AE in the same group? These are arguably Opeth's three heaviest songs. And it's also got the consensus best Damnation song in Windowpane.

Overall, I would shuffle these a bit. Overall, the new stuff seems a bit inflated in the ranks, and Orchid and MR are way underrepresented. My biggest gripes though are Patterns II being so low, and Wreath and TGC being that high.
