Question about recording DM vox

Should I use a windscreen when I record DM vox, or is that more for clean singing? I'm about to record some for my song and I don't know if I should buy a windscreen or if it will just be a waste of time/money.

You refer to a filter right?
In that case, yes, use it. You'll spit even more while growling than singing and it wont sound nice on your recorded vocaltrack. You wont need a proffesional filter, just anything you can sing thru that blocks the spit.
