Are we talking for entertainment - sort of stageshows etc. or as a form of therapy, visiting past live or as use as a anaesthetic (sp?) etc.?????

I saw a video of a hypnotist that did a show in a bar in Canada. I reckon it was about the funniest thing I've ever seen on videotape. They were munching raw onions thinking they were apples, practicing to be porn stars with the chairs and the best was when he gave everybody imaginary rabbits, and then proceeded to kill them all in different ways in fromt of the people. They were crying and screaming, but he hypnotised them so they wouldn't be able to hit him or anything like that. Damn was that funny.

I think it can be a good idea for therapy or for "medical" reasons. But for entertainment. no. It was proved here in a court case that this guy had become mentally unbalanced after being hypnotised at one of those shows, and ended up committing suicide (after the court case). So I don't think thats a good idea

My sleeping friend who's visiting me did a hypnotist show last summer at our local fair. She was called onstage, and she said it was akin to just losing all your inhibitions. You're completely conscious of what you're doing, and if at any time you don't WANT to be doing it, you can unrelax yourself enough to break it (well, in this case anyway)
so he had them hugging each other, but it got a little too close for her, so she stopped agreeing to do it, basically. and he sent her off the stage. Hypnotists are REALLY popular bar acts in Canada. People go home with their underwear on their heads and not even know it. I think that it should be treated with caution, but not frenzied panic ![]() But wouldn't it be fun to hypnotize people?? Oooh the possibilities!
