Here's me. Not my best photo.
I got into heavy metal in the middle 1970s because it was the only music that had balls back then. I've always not really liked the hippie thing. So I started out with Motorhead, then Black Sabbath, then Maiden, Priest, Zeppelin, Purple... aw yeah!
Heavy metal wasn't really important to me until I started hearing death metal, specifically Suffocation and Deicide. I never liked the church but now I had a new reason to despise it... they wouldn't tolerate the music I loved. But then I got to thinking, how is it that the church of LOVE wouldn't recognize my LOVE for metal music? After that, all of society unravelled for me. It was all lies.
I guess I'm a pretty alienated dude these days. One of my best friends is a meth dealer, another is the king of shemale porn, and the rest are Nazis or headbangers. But I'm pretty damn far from being a yuppie.

Shouldn't there be a separate thread for this?

... aaaanyhow, back on topic:
I guess some of you know some of the below already, some don't.
I'm in IT, 30 and of Indian (Sikh) background and was born in Crawley, Sussex (south of London) back in the good old days of 1975... I can still remember when Channel 4 first started, hearing Pink Floyd, The Police, and The Jam blaring out of the radio, and seeing skinheads and punks wandering around town...
We came over to Australia in 1983 and I lost my accent pretty quickly The years between 83-93 were tough - I hadnt cut my hair and there were very few Sikhs around Sydney at the time. Things are different now though, young Sikhs have it far easier than I did.
I got into Metal in 1986, starting off with Maiden, then moving into Rush, Megadeth... It was at this point that I started to listen to music "seriously": paying attention to structures and details, while not fully being able to comprehend them, but knowing that they were important. I've a taste for Black Metal - it's roughly parallel to Baroque and opera (my other musical loves, and also what I consider the only thing as equally brutal and emotional [and darker] as metal can be, perhaps even further). I feel Black Metal (especially first wave) is a very genuine expression. Its honest.
I love many styles of music, infact I would love to study musicology or something like that - I love reading about composers, religion, life etc at the times of the Baroque (and previous time periods), and fusing it all together to find out what it was like (enjoyed films like Amadeus and Elizabeth, although they are a bit musically off)... I'm considering doing a course in Piano & Harpsichord tuning as a career change.
Artistically as a youngster I loved surealism and also architecture (my artworks were very influenced by the combination of the two), and eventually led to me designing levels for the Quake series of games as a hobby.
Screenies @ http://hubster.telefragged.com/files.html . My broadening interest in western art music has heightened my interest in renaissance, baroque and medieval styles of art, and also reignited my passion for ancient history.
Some obligatory photos:
This first one was taken at a spot near some of the earlier photos I posted in this thread, on a very sunny day last summer. I was a little fitter then! Damn chocolate.
This pic beneath is taken a few weeks ago - shortly after buying my first guitar! I've a long way to go on it, but I'm hopeful.. Excuse the mess in the background, its at our new place which we're still settling into

As a man, I hate to say this--but I am totally comfortable in my sexuality--you are a pretty good looking guy there Hubster. You also seems to have a very contemporary style.

I'm sure the Association of Homosexual African Americans would be more than happy to have you attend one of their events.
