Iain M. Banks - The Player of Games

Good scifi too. Unusual idea.

Dan Simmons - Olympos
Excellent sci-fi mixed with Iliad. Ilium, the first part, was excellent and this just seems to make it better.

George R R Martin - A Game of Thrones. great so far. if his work maintains this level of writing, A Song of Ice and Fire is an epic fantasy series

Cradle of Filth got me into H.P Lovecraft so right now I'm reading all the Cthulhu Mythos.

Lovecraft has a brilliant imagination, but is somewhat too verbose - still, I love reading his books.

Anyways, I just finished reading a Stephen Fry autobiography, and am about to start on a Clive Barker book.

My favourite book of all time is Cloud Street by Tim Winton.

I need to re-read these! I read the series as it was written & published. Have you seen the new movie? What do you think of it? (or is that a silly question, in light of your signature?)

P.S. I see you say you're in Cincy. Have you lived there long? (I grew up in Forest Park)
I live in Cincy too--white oak to be exact. The city itself is a cesspool other than Hyde Park, Mt Lookout, Mt Adams, and Mt Washington. Im in PRice Hill, SOuth Fairmount, OTR, Cumminsville all the time, and jesus, one would have a higher standard of living in Mexico.
