I thought Death Proof was awful. Grindhouse altogether was a bad idea. They both seemed to overlook the irony in even making the movies. That said, I've never liked Tarantino all that much. Reservoir Dogs and Jackie Brown are really good, but I could happily leave the rest. Indeed my favourite movie of his is True Romance, and he only helped write it.
21 wasn't too bad, huh? I was cautious but it turned out not too bad. It's throwaway, but so is most cinema.

21 was just really empty...it started off alright. But the ending was terrible. The script was exceedingly awkward. I will say that Spacey rocked, and the comedy that was in the movie was pretty funny. But very, very pointless film.
I personally thought Grindhouse was amazing, and that's all I have to say on that subject. |

Seen several movies recently, but a few have stuck:
Diary of the Dead - we left this with total ambivalence. I'm not sure if it was lame, terrible with horrible actors, or likable in its own quirky right. Romero's social satire was more apparent than ever, at least. And, some of the gags worked; some were gimmicky and stupid. Secretary - It tackled the subject well, or "safely", plus Gyllenhaal's excellent and adorable. But I thought the wry humour was kind of lost someway through it, and the narrative just sort of floundered towards the end.. Eh, I guess I just expected more. Plus some truly dire ones, like Cannibal Holocaust, Alligator 2: The Mutation, and King of the Kickboxers, which as a child I thought was exactly how an enjoyably terrible martial arts film should be done. Wrong. |

Just watched that 'Wizard of Darkness' movie. The film was entertaining but the plot could have been better. Nice lesbian action though, heh
Just watched: There Will Be Blood It was better than I expected. I have heard that this film wasn't great except for the performance by Daniel Day Lewis. I thought it was a great film and of course Daniel Day Lewis' performance was great. |

Pointless to you perhaps because casinos or gambling is of no interest to you. And it's based on a true story so perhaps if you read the book you would appreciate it more (though the movie is almost entirely different from the book). Anyways the point in this movie is you should take risks in life or else you don't have a story to tell (remember that in the movie when he is interviewing for the scholarship?). Anyways i suggest you read the book Bringing Down the House and you'll like the movie better. It was not meant to be a academy award movie type, just a entertaining movie.

Everything I've heard seems to be that if you like the book, you'll hate the movie. And I'm sorry, but no one is getting a full-ride med scholarship by walking in to a dean's office and saying: "so, I basically risked my money, life, friends, and family so that I could get shitfaced, play games, and bang Superman's baby-mama." The performances were funny, the script was atrocious. I've heard the book is ten times better, maybe I'll give it a shot. |

Yes, the book was better but if you made the movie literally from the book I think the movie would of been boring.... not enough drama etc...

I forgot to mention that I'm reading Busting Vegas by the same author... it's a offshoot to Bringing Down the House... about another group of MIT card counters from the same period... so far this book is good like the first one...
