The child's-eye-view of the adult world is nuanced and convincing in both films, yeah. As for Boyle's best, I'd probably pick Trainspotting. But then I'm all gay for those hugely ironic, near-misanthropic portraits of terrible people, often on the edge of society - movies like Happiness.

In Bruges - Far better than we'd expected. Never have I seen such an odd flow of laidback, mean wit that's punctuated unexpectedly with harsh, violent melodrama. Midget banter is always funny, I say, and it starts to seem like a non-sequitur here until the narrative comes full circle in a cruelly ironic twist of fate. The best film I've seen starring Colin Farrell, easily. Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes were excellent as well.

I saw In Bruges at a pre-screening months back with writer/director Martin McDonagh, who is also a playwright. I absolutely loved the movie. So much that I read his 6 plays...the man's fecking brilliant.

As for Iron Man, killer comic book movie. One of the best.

In Bruges was immense. ^ I agree with your McDonagh statements, he's an immensely talented chap. The script held alot of the motifs more usual in playwriting, but he moved them into a wonderfully quick and witty script with ease.

Gotta agree with you on this one. He fit the role like a glove. He was excellent! He carried the movie singlehandedly. Iron Man was an excellent comic book adaptation.

That's great, I've really wanted to see this movie. Now I'm psyched for it to come out.

Comes out at the end of June, from what I hear.

Definitely one DVD I'll be picking up.
