I used your samples to quickly try the new TSE x50. Just basically loaded it with an impulse (only touched the gain of it) then a little bit of eq treatment and thats all. Oh, I tried to leave 2 tracks DI with just hard shitty distortion on it and mix with the one that are on TSEX50, seemed to work lol xD

PS: I'm a NOOB at mixing etc.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9393622/Neve...is%20Cover.m4a

Is it ok?

@ drope.
the guitars sounds to me like through a phone or so...there is something wrong with them

I did a workaround on my drums. Espacially kick+snare. Are they now "processed " enough?

Here's my shot at it:

Quad tracked, One hard left and one hard right. Another panned 50% L and R.

Engl and Soldano on L, 5150 and Tripple Rectifier on R.

General EQ and compression. Tada!

My stab at it:

http://db.tt/GJm06JA

Decided to reamp all 4 DI's and each one is using the 2mic setup on/off axis, so there are 8 guitar tracks going on...

Guitars: HK Triamp MKII
Bass: SansAmp plugin, just using the Crunch Bass settings
Drums: SD2.0

Mics: 421D for on axis, SM57 for Off axis
Mic Pres respectively: SCA A12 and N72

Signal: Digi 003 rack --> Radial DI (wired in reverse) --> Amp

I've seen/heard Ola's amp review videos on the HT-5, but hearing this is definitely making me lean closer towards getting this!

Would you mind posting just the raw guitars recording by themselves instead of in this mix? (I'd like to hear how good the Blackstar sounds outside of the mix if possible. ) Thanks!

Edit: Deleted my link and attempt for now. I forgot the vocal track (), and the TS vst settings I used sounds like garbage re-listening to this. Some strange upper frequency stuff going on. I'll fix and re-upload my version later.

metal foundry + ezdrummer (didn't work on toms yet)

guitars: tse808 + lecto + guitarhack "louder jj powertube impulses samples edge-1" and some eq + small comp

I hope you like it, it's basically a template I'm working on for an album I'm about to mix.

Did a mixtest myself, i tried to keep to the original while improving the things i did not like in the original mix, although i think i went a bit overboard with guitar clarity, they sound kinda harsh

And yes i played the bassline myself, i couldnt get the backingtrack to work for me
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34729299/narcomaster3.mp3

UPDATED VERSION:
beefed up bassdrum, i underestimated the importance of the carrying bassdrum in this song, and i think it was a bad idea to rework the mix at this time of day (4am in austria)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34729299/narcomaster7.mp3

and yes, i like raw sounding guitars

UPDATED VERSION 2:
redid the guitars, more raw is less tone in this song, i am still far away from satisfied but i think this will be the final narco-mix

Excellent cover!!! I have a question- how come your D.I.'s blow away the tone I get using the same fx chain? What audio interface are you using? Sounds awesome compared to my stuff, ha.

Tried an alternating guitar tone:
Starts out with a straight into Marshall tone for 20 secs,
Then switches to High Gain with more midrange,
Back to Marshall sound, near the end.

Narcosynthesis

Marshall tone: Lepou Hybrit into Lecab 1 using the default impulses
High Gain: TSE X50/ReaVerb/lots of eq

Vocalist is awesome! Reminds me of Candlemass a little.

Some great tones here chaps!

Pickasso:

I wasn't even sure my DI's were all that great to be honest! I used a M-audio Profire as my interface.

I do notice this guitar/pickup combo has a fair "nasal" quality....I actually prefer its lead tone by a long shot but with a dip in the 800 area shit sounds much more fitting. Appreciate your kind words dude!

I'll have a new little DI reamp test thing for you guys soon....won't be a full song but it'll be enough to test out your tones. Different guitar with an 81 in it this time

Heres mine.

Did this quickly. Roughly 15 minutes spent mixing.
Guitars are x50 into Gods Cab impulses.
Going to post a version with reamped guitars when I get the time.
Mixed on my AKG K-271 headphones.

EDIT:

Heres a better version with real guitars, added drum samples and better mixing/mastering.

Here is my attempt - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31489933/Nev...0-%20Reamp.mp3

Guitars 2 tracks of Peavey 6505 > Orange 412 > SM57 and 2 of ENGL E530 > Peavey 6505 Power Amp > Orange 412 > SM57.

usual eq + comp.

EDIT: i decided to do the full mix with bass and drums. Bass is Sansamp Bass Driver Deluxe 2 tracks HP/LP and drums are all SSD.
