It was freaking awesome. Any weekend where I get to have dinner with Lana Lane and Erik Norlander AND end up with Jeff Scott Soto's phone number in my cell phone had to be a success..
![]() I'm a poor reviewer, so I won't even attempt to review the sets..let me see what I can find on the 'net for you though. ![]() |

Had a great time!! It went off very well, the crowds were great... and yeah Lana and Erik were the coolest... very nice folks! and they kicked ass... Rocket Scientists exceeded my expectations more than any other band at BARfest, Sun Caged came off better live than on their albums and really exceeded my expectations too. My Top 4: LTE, Zero Hour, Sun Caged, Concerto Moon. But all the bands were excellent...

Okay, here's a review from my friend John Hough as posted to SymX's mailing list..this is his opinion & is not necessarily shared by me:
My overall opinion of the show... Friday: Concerto Moon was very good, just watching their guitar player for the 4 songs I saw was worth the price of admission to the whole friggin festivus... holy crap can that guy play. Singer was impossible to understand, and actually had to use a piece of paper with some generic english sentences on it so he could talk to the audience. Rocket Scientists - Snore. Based on the rest of the bands that played, they were seriously out of place. Enchant - Incredible as always. JSS - hmmm... i'm kinda torn on this part of the show. I didn't think his voice was at his A-Game level, he struggled to hit some high notes (really made me wonder how he ever got the job in Journey), and overall kinda acted like an 80's singer on stage... including an almost barf-inducing sticking his finger in his mouth, closing his lips around it and slowly pulling it out to the girls in the front row. gag. Eric Martin coming out and doing "Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy" and Phil & Dave of Y&T coming out for "Open Fire", and "Mean Streak" saved this set big time. Saturday: First off, before the bands... I don't know if it was a crew decision or a demand from LTE, but having LTE's gear remaining on the stage while the other bands played SUCKED. Once another drum set was in front of Portnoy's, there was barely room for anyone to cross to the other side of the stage. Basically everyone in every band before LTE had to stay to one side or the other of their drums, so not a lot of action in the first 3 bands as things were very cramped. DarkWater - Very VERY impressive live, Glenn would be smart to book them at ProgPower. Sounded AMAZING. SunCaged - See DarkWater... Marcel is a monster live, although I felt a little awkward watching Paul on stage, he sounded great, but didn't have that experienced commanding presence up there. Zero Hour - Other than very low bass volume, they sounded very good. LTE - A few sound issues during the first song, but afterwards overall it sounded pretty good. I had trouble hearing the Chapman Stick which was kind of a bummer, and thought Petrucci's sound was WAY to processed, but they were tight as hell and extremely fun too watch. But as Bear had mentioned to me outside when I left with about 20 mins. left to go, my brain was on note overload, I just couldn't take it anymore. Way too much noodling for me. My .02$ You can find more related stuff on their forum.. Last edited by Jax : July 2nd, 2008 at 07:32 PM. |

I'd like to add my .02, but I am just getting ready for work.
Quickly, I had a blast, one of the best concert experiences ever. I'm really just now starting to unwind and really take it all in. I'll post more and a few pics later. Meanwhile, go here for some pics. |

Really??? Seriously???
This guy is to Yngwie as Pagan's Mind is to Dream Theater (sorry Sharkblack); One phone-call away from a plagiarisms charge. C'mon! Have an original idea! He's even copied all of Yngwie's stage moves. What a colossal tool! He's so far up Yngwie's ass, he can see what he had for dinner!I tried not to say anything. It was too much for me. Ladies and gentlemen: CONCERTO MOON "Time To Die" ![]() ![]() SS

Why don't any of them have beards? Hmmm. That's weird.
We should rename this forum "The Sorrell, Koelling, Brett, Jax Message board" LOL. It's like our online telephone to each other.

P.S. I'm still a bit bent and sore about what happened with this show. It's probably a good thing we didn't play (because my life has been busy and crazy), but I think we would have somehow filled the bass position, found a way to get in the necessary practice and delivered the goods. Not getting an opportunity is only dragging us closer to the grave. There's always next year, but I'm really getting tired of saying that.
Can we get a blow up doll, put a bass guitar in their hands and sequence the parts?
