Top 5 live performances from this weekend?

Hi All,

Well another great Progpower has come and gone. It seemed to go by way too fast. I was really impressed with the lineup this year and every band brought their "A" game !! What a weekend.

For me, the top 5 live performances of the weekend were:

1. Pagan's Mind. This band continues to blow me away hearing them live. AMAZING!
2. Vanden Plas. Wacky frenchmen in the front row and everything !! I would like to trade finger muscles with Stephan Lill !!
3. Dead Soul Tribe. Why did we have to wait so long to hear them live for the 1st time at a PP festival? Devon - We need MORE FLUTE ! he-he
4. Pain of Salvation. What's with the 70's porn star look, Daniel?
5. Cloudscape. How does Roger keep such rock solid time to the recorded keyboard tracks?? Amazing!

Great to meet all of you again this year. Hope to see you again next year!!

PS: Eva, Roland, and Kenny - great to meet you .... hope to see you @ Sweeden Rock Festival next June......

Fantastic weekend, great organization, lots of nice people and all bands were really, really good.

My top 5
Pain of Salvation: Saw them for the 6th time, my favourite gig until now!
Lanfear: The most energetic gig of the weekend, very dynamic and a bunch of simpaticos.
Pagan's Mind: Love those guys, great sound and cool setlist!
Mekong Delta: very professional and concentrated, courageous start
Vanden Plas: Seems the audience was already a bit tired but they did all to motivate everybody!

I'll be there next year!!!

I was there on saturday and the favourite show for me was easily Cloudscapes. They got the crowd going and did a great show and they have great stage presence. I also enjoyed Pain of salvation and Dead soul tribe. The rest of the bands didn't appeal to me very much. What I don't understand is why Cloudscape got the opening slot and not a later slot in the evening????

1. Cloudscape
2. Pain of salvation
3. Dead soul tribe

...the rest;-)

DAY 1:
Nostradameus - Not my bag at all. Just plain metal. Didin't think they fitted the event.
Secret Sphere - Pretty good. Not my bag either but I enjoyed it. I heard they got really drunk afterwards, haha.
Wuthering Heights - Kick Ass and Jägermeister, nuff said!
Pagan's Mind - Not as good as when they played at PP Europe, but still one of the best bands this festival.
Vanden Plas - Snoozefest

DAY 2:
Cloudscape - Too bad they had to open. I'm afraid many people didn't arrive in time. Great performance as always. Damn I laughed when Mike acted ghost
Lanfear - Biggest surprise of the festival. They were awesome.
Mekong Delta - Actually I didn't see much of them. I was mostly running around talking to people, but what I heard sounded slightly better than expected.
Deadsoul Tribe - Best band of the festival. Unfortunatelty all of their songs don't hold the same high standard. "Some things you can't return" - Best song of the whole festival. Goosebumps all over.
Pain of Salvation - I begun getting tired here and it was not their best performance I'm afraid, so I actually left before they had finished. New bassist again? Daniel looked..hmmm... strange :-)

Mattias his remarks about all bands pretty much sums up my experience this past weekend.

Only heard one song of Mekong Delta, not my cup of tea and i spent the rest of this gig sitting in the hallway chatting with FarmerDude (forgot his real name) and Lars(Aran).

Was standing in the crowd for the first 4 or 5 songs during the PoS set when i left to the back of the venue to sit at the bar cause my feet where killing me.
A pity you left earlier Mattias, you missed the best joke of the weekend:

Daniel Gildenlow: We now will play our last song for tonight....
Crowd: NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Daniel Gildenlow: No? hmmmm, we wanted to play this song tho, actally we were really looking forward to play this song...but....

Had a great weekend, but hanging out for more than 3 days in Copenhagen is too much for my old legs. Saw a lot of 'wasted' bandmembers on Sunday, heh. It was also very strange seeing all the bands the entire weekend with both eyes, a different experience to attend such a show without a camera in my hands.

Thanks to Claus and Lars for bringing up this great festival, had a blast. And a special thanks to Lars for keeping up his promiss, the Christmas beers tasted damn well!!

H.

One of the best weekends in my life.
Pretty cool that one was able to talk to almost every band after their shows because most of them were in the crowd to watch the other bands.
Hey, the PP brought me to register here so that's something which nobody managed until now

My faves:
Pagan's Mind: They really delivered the goods - impressive performance
Lanfear: They kind of overran me and totally rocked! Fantastic band!
Deadsoul Tribe: Too many samples and Devon sounded a bit flat sometimes. They still know how to groove, though!
Wuthering heights: Though I'm not really into their music it was fun watching them!
Pain Of Salvation: Simply love them and I simply love Daniels humour

I'm still very tired, but it was all worth it.

1. Dead Soul Tribe. 1st timers for me and they were a blast.
2. Vanden Plas. Started off with crappy sound but after that they rocked.
3. Pagan's Mind. Played very loud but with better sound than in Baarlo.
4. Cloudscape. Very tight band and friendly guys.

It was great meeting all these progg-people from allover.
Thanks for the beer, Havermout (my name is Ove btw.)
Thanks for the beer, Lars !!!!!

Is there anything else to do until next year, really ?

Sorry guys but I thought Lanfear was a huge dissapointment. The singer did what he could to get the crowd going, but what a crappy guitarrist, and crappy sound. Boring music.Sorry guys..

1. Pagans Mind...whoah, I had a sore throat from screaming after that
2. P.O.S even though not their best performance ever, still in a league of their own. And i thought Daniel looked ûber-cool. Like Daniel Day-Lewis in "Gangs og N.Y
3. Dead Soul Tribe. Kind of trippy meditative experience. Great. Very charismatic dude Devon Graves
4. Mekong Delta. Tech metal is an aquired taste, but I thought they did very well. Surprised that i still remebered a lot of the old songs. Must redust the old cd`s
5. Vanden Plas. What a great band. Great songs. I really like their music on records, just thought they seemed a little tired and so was I. Andy Kuntz is in a league of his own. MAN is he a hunk. In his mid 40 ies and stil sooo...well

Very cool weekend! I got home sound and safe as well. Danish beer is somewaht strange: good taste, refreshing, but you won't get any drunk, regardless of how much you drink, haha. I decided to go for the Jägermeister later on... 'till it was gone.

...Anyway, my favourite bands!? Most of you forgot to mention Wuthering Heights! "Now the wind calls, a storm from the past. Night falls and they're longing for the woods!"

1. Deadsoul Tribe
2. Wuthering Heights
3. Mekong Delta (very good replacement for ZH! Next year I'd really like to have some more of this more technical stuff!)
4. Pagan's Mind
5. Cloudscape

I was a bit disappointed of my first Pain of Salvation gig. Can't really explain why, it just lacked the "magic" that caught me on their albums until (including) "Remedy Lane"... Uh, but, yeah, I remember I enjoyed "Disco Queen" quite much, haha. Also I got curious about Vanden Plas' albums... I never really checked them out yet, though to many people they're "Germany's finest" in terms of of prog... Just ordered "Beyond Daylight".

I'll post some pictures soon. Check out www.rockzoom.de if you like.

Great festival!!!
My faves: Pagan's Mind, Lanfear & Mekong Delta
Didn't like Deadsoul Tribe that much, to me this was more a kind of playback show with Devon sounding a bit thin and he seemed to have problems hitting some notes.
Cloudscape also sounded pretty cool, never heard of them before.
