R.I.P. Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka of DECAPITATED

REST IN PEACE
Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka
1984 - 2007

Decapitated members Vitek (drums) and Covan (vocals) were hurt in an accident earlier this week involving Decapitated's tour bus and a truck carrying wood while on their tour of Russia. Both musicians sustained serious head injuries in the collision. Vitek underwent Trepanation, a form of surgery in which a hole is drilled or scraped into the skull, and was due to be transported to a hospital in Krakow, Poland for further treatment. An update was issued yesterday that Covan was showing signs of improvement, but Vitek was not.

Today, November 2nd, 2007, Vitek has passed from the arms of this world at the young age of 23. You will forever be missed, brother. I will never forget the show you guys put on at Summer Slaughter. Rest in Peace, brother of metal.

Damn... that really really sucks. I feel so bad for his friends and family. He will be missed. I was to see him playing with Decapitated (along with Amon Amarth) in just a couple weeks too.....

this is not the news I wanted to wake up to this morning I had been looking forward to seeing them on the Amon tour and knew they would no longer be playing that, but I hoped it wouldn't take a turn like this one

He is such a big influence on me. My same age and so damned good. I think he is the best death metal drummer around especially for his age, just very tasteful. Being 16/17 on the first album, I just couldn't imagine being that good at that age. Damn I wish I started drumming as an infant. He will forever be missed. His death hit me much like Dimebag's hit a lot of other people. He was the future of death metal drumming, and I feel awful about him leaving a wife and daughter behind. I am also 23, with a wife and a few weeks away from having my first baby, and I can't imagine something that awful.
