Autumn
It sure is beautiful, but I sure as hell don't want to rake leaves tomorrow, and then again in two weeks.

Luckily, or unluckily, I couldn't care less about the Bears game, so I'll be out there raking. ![]()

Fall is my most favorite time of the year. The air turns crisp, the changing of the light, even the air smells better. Fresher.
The apple orchards in the mountains open for business....fresh grown apples just begging to be eaten and lots of apple sauce to be made and put up, the green chili is ready for roasting and freezing....sniiiiifff....you can smell them on the air coming from the big roasters at the fruit markets... The leaves, oh man, the leaves. Fall calls for a drive into the mountains to see the Aspen trees with their orange, red, and yellow leaves. Groves of them nestled in the tall Pine trees, splashes of color highlight the mountain side. Go on a nice warm fall day with a picnic and bottle of wine in tow. Or better yet, a long weekend vacation up to northern New Mexico into Colorado to see the Aspens up there. ahhhh.....I love Autumn! And yes, the leaves here at home change and fall to the ground. and yep it is a total chore to get them cleaned up ....but you boys are so silly. This chick has a leaf blower that doubles as a VACUUM! ![]()

I don't know if the drought here is improving or reducing autumn leaf colors or variety, but I was driving along I-85 the other day (out here in the boonies, with lots of trees
) and couldn't help but be awestruck at the colors. Autumn in Atlanta is great. Now if only we could get a little rain.....

![]() The front yard isn't so bad, we have that scoop the leaves in the street and they'll come get them for free thing. The back yard is fenced and so we have to get all the leaves from the back yard into the street in the front. That is not a lot of fun. We have 2 very large very old trees in the back yard. Only 1 large old tree in the front ![]() It is very pretty looking down our street though at the canopy that completely covers the street. |
