I guess I consider myself (generally) more of a power metal person than a prog fan but I loved the set. I do enjoy Riverside on my iPod, but I wasn't sure how it would be LIVE. I mean, I can put on their music and work and not be distracted by it. However, I thought their set was really great and I recognized everything they played.

Sat a row behind you and yeah, you were.

Thanks to the sponsors for helping bring Riverside in!! Probably my favorite set of the weekend.

IMO, one of the best prog sets I've ever seen. The sound was fabulous. I wish all the bands could have sounded so good. They seemed to play quite a bit of the heavier stuff they have. They seemed to be having fun.

I don't really think they can be prog though. Their instruments didn't have enough strings. The bassist only had 4 and the guitarist only had 6. They must be inferior musicians.

ZZzzzzzzzzzzz....

They sound good on CD, but they were as boring live as I had expected them to be. Guess they aren't my cup of tea...

Pretty good. Not incredible, but pretty good. Loose Heart was disappointing simply because they couldn't cover all of the parts but that's understandable. Their good moments were enhanced in the live setting, but their tangential and overdone parts were enhanced in a negative way. Still, a very good performance.

Riverside was like Damnation-style Opeth. They projected depth and emotion, and had a lot of creativity. They zoned me out. I just absorbed their show.

Absolutely amazing. And for a Riverside set (I've seen them in concert 4 times now), they were heavy as fuck!

Riverside and Rob Rock were the only two sets that blew me away. I had no idea who Riverside was and I had heard one Rob Rock disk and thought it cheesy, but came away a big fan of both.

Can't really add much to what was already said, except to say that they were the band I came to see this year and got exactly what I wanted to ..... experience. Tough slot right after Iron Savior frickin' tore the roof off the place. I was worried about the reaction they would get from this fickle crowd, but pleasantly surprised by the ovation at the end of their set. They are not for everyone....I get that. They are not energetic....I get that, too. They are too mellow for metal fests and too metal for prog fests. But I loved it immensely.

To be honest, I was expecting a lot of people to walk out on Riverside and I was pleasantly surprised that people not only stuck around but really dug their set.

I like them ok on disc--I only have Out of Myself--and was looking forward to them perhaps the most, but that's damning with faint praise. However, I thought they sounded much heavier and more energetic live and so was pleasantly surprised by their set. I will be getting their other discs.
