Metal Shop-The Only Show With Teeth

I was talking with a buddy a few days ago and Metal Shop came up. Just curois how many more out there remember this show that was hosted by Charlie Kendall. I remember as a teenager finding this show on the old Rock 105 in Chattanooga. I also got to hear it on KDF in Nashville (when they were rock) when I was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY and KKRX when I was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK. It would be cool to find some old broadcasts of this show. Any other good metal shows let me know.

Remember it well. And it actually was fairly well wired into the U.S. metal scene, at least for some of it's run. Still remember "this weeks most valuable metal" countdown. I heard alot of up and coming indy metal bands on there, and at one time owned over 100 of the shows. I only remember it on vinyl, but have heard that some CD shows exist. Even had a MS tshirt at one time... if I remember right, they sent it to me free just for the asking. The 80s metal world was another universe compared to today. But yeah, great show.

I remember it quite well indeed...great show. It ran on 96rock here...can't remember the timeslot...I think it was Sat. from midnight to 2am.

Another blast from the past: anyone remember Rock Video Monthly? You paid a surprisingly small monthly fee and they sent you a VHS tape (this was pre-DVD, of course) each month with ten 'rock' videos on it -- they were actually almost all metal videos with a wide genre range. I still have around 20 of the tapes...and am afraid to play them.

Thanks for the link! I loved the show and used to listen on KISW in Seattle.

I found this quote in the interview interesting, though: "Sure you heard Foreigner and Styx on the radio, but what about Judas Priest and Dio?"

As it turns out, KEZE in Spokane, WA played *all* of those bands when I was in high school...in fact, it's how I got hooked on metal. I started listening because they played Foreigner and Styx...and then I got sucked in to Judas Priest and Dio (and Queensryche and Scorpions and Iron Maiden and Def Leppard and...) Ah, those were the days!

Back in the 80's, WDVE in Pittsburgh tended to play some of that stuff as well. Now they're a corporate owned piece of garbage (Clear Channel) - but back in the day they were a cool station. Still beats anything here in the Washington, DC metro area

I listened to the show religiously; I think the first time I heard POWER OF THE NIGHT by Savatage was on Metal Shop.

I ordered the Metal Shop t-shirt, but they ripped me off (oh well...not like it would fit anymore anyway). I then began thinking the whole thing was a scam, since the address was 666 5th Avenue...but I later realized this was a legitimate address
