Palace Theater? Fffffff... That's like 1/4th the size of the venue for their Christmas show. I may check them out for the first time.

Well, the south got the shaft on this for sure! I guess they figure the Bible belt doesn't want to hear anything but Christmas tunes.

Guess not, in case u didnt the venues have dropped in size drastically. In KC it went from a 20k to a 8k, so I guess they think that not nearly as many people will want ot go to a non-xmas show

I could just as well be living in South Dakota.... Will any band play the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area ever again? ahahhahaha This is getting pretty ridiculous.

To make you happy:

Porcupine Tree - April 24th at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jacki Gleason Theater.

Now you don't have to fly to NYC to see them, fuckface. Especially for a sold out concert without having a ticket.

This is fucking great news! Wilkes-Barre, PA. on a Friday night. Twenty minutes from home. I love shows like that! "Beethoven's Last Night" in it's entirety is the gravy on this whole thing for me. It's my favorite TSO album big time!

TSO, touring like Paul O'Neal promised? No? Really?

They haven't been in the Tower in Philly for years. It's a great small venue. Very cool!

That's because not nearly as many people will be interested since it isn't a Christmas show. These will sell well but not like the others. I for one have never had the chance to see them, so I'm pretty stoked.

Been excited as hell about this ever since I heard straight from the horse's mouth about it like 2 weeks ago. Beethoven's last Night is my favorite TSO record, and the backing band for this tour's basically gonna be the lineup that recorded the disc (all the Sava-guys, minus Jon). If Rob Evan plays the role of Beethoven, this will be one epic god damn show, fingers crossed for that.

I'll definitely be hitting the Wilkes Barre show, probably gonna do Philly too.

I know. It's a very good thing as I hate going to the big arenas for shows and seeing a speck on stage. The combination of that and the prices for the Christmas show have always prevented me from getting tickets.
And it's actually technically even smaller since they always play 2 shows on the Christmas tour.

So since the venues are 1/4 the size of the Christmas show venues, does this mean the ticket prices will be 1/4 of what they normally are?

If only. I imagine it'll be less of an extravagance than the Christmas show is though so hopefully the prices will be representative of the scaled back show.

Thanks, DTJeff. Too bad about the "minus Jon" part. He's said that the only onstage part he'd play in TSO was to play Mephistopheles, and I'd love to see it. Even without that, I am looking forward to this.

Since you had some inside info, I'll try and pump you for a little more. I assume that there will be no Xmas music on this tour (with the exception of Sarajevo). Is that a good assumption?

I'm hoping for a BLN heavy playlist, and a light Nightcastle playlist, but I know they are in support of NC, not BLN. Still, I plan to be there.

The Palace actually has decent accoustics as I recall from seeing other shows there. Would it be more awkward if they played the Armory?

Original news blurb from TSO:

http://trans-siberian.com/news1/inde...ate=2010-01-06

Happy New Year! [Jan. 06, 2010]

Happy New Year! We want to wish you all a great 2010 and thank you for coming out to the shows this year. TSO would like to thank our friend Joe Walsh for joining us on a few dates. We have a lot of exciting stuff in the works this year, beginning with what will be our first ever Spring Tour! TSO will be performing Beethoven's Last NIght in its entirety along with songs from Night Castle. We wanted to bring it all back home so we are going to play intimate theatres in the US as well as our first ever tour of Europe! Tickets for the US shows are going to be available exclusively to the Fan Club. Please make sure you are signed up by February 1st. We expect to have everything solidified in the next week or so. As soon as everything is confirmed we will be posting the dates. So keep checking back. This is going to be a very busy 2010 and believe us, we are just getting started!
Sincerely from New York City (Nocturnal Division),
Paul O' Neill/Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Agreed. Not to mention much better quality sound.

I haven't been to the Armory in forever and only been to Palace twice so I can't really say. The Armory would be nice just because of GA area. The best place in the area for acoustics is by far the Hall but that's over half the size of Palace so too small and really doesn't get these kinds of shows. Armory is twice the size of Palace so it was probably larger than what they thought they'd sell in this area during a Spring tour. I honestly don't know how much they sell of the 15,357 max capacity at the TUC each year.
