Power Theory has revealed their forthcoming full length CD cover artwork for their forthcoming album "An Axe to Grind" by the world reknown artist, Eliran Kantor (Testament, Sodom, Gwar) on January 1st. A release date will be announced shortly, and pre-release promotional campaign will begin in February 2012.

"We are proud to announce the release date of our upcoming album „AN AXE TO GRIND“ – released through PURE STEEL RECORDS. The official release date is set 29th June 2012 and we also will play at the Warriors of Metal V Open Air Festival (USA) on this day.

Rocco's has worked with Thunderblast, Angband, Zandelle, Widow, and Exxplorer and his work is truly amazing.

The second album of POWER THEORY - "An Axe To Grind" will be released on 29th of June 2012. The will play on this day an gig on the WARRIORS OF METAL FESTIVAL 2012.

It has only been 12 months ago since we re-released the (originally self-titled) debut-album of the US-Heavy/Power Metal-band POWER THEORY with the long title „Out Of The Ashes, Into The Fire... And Other Tales Of Insanity“ after only five months. On that one they proved themselves as a straight band playing rocking Metal with certain Saxon-influences, while the raw vocals reminded more on bands like Metallica or ex-Metal Church-frontman David Wayne.

With „An Axe To Grind“ the second masterpiece of this quartet from Pennsylvania will follow in June. The band improved a lot here and comes over with nine straight-rocking songs with a great recognition value. Classic Metal-riffing and nice twin-leads are combined with thrashy elements. Everything fits perfect to POWER THEORY. Some highlights on the record are „Pure Steel“ with its mid-tempo groove, the great title track, the pounding „The Seer (In Dreams)“ as well as the speedy „Edge Of Knives“. A great, pounding production makes this album a classic. The warrior cover is a picture painted by Eliran Kantor, who also painted the covers of legends like Sodom („In War And Pieces“) and Testament („The Formation Of Damnation“).

This is high-class Heavy Metal from the USA: Definitely a reason to buy this one!

Power Theory announces addition of second guitarist



Power Theory would like to welcome renowned metal guitarist, Steve Stegg, into our family as our newest band member. Steve is a founding member and former guitarist for Blood Feast, Sleepy Hollow, and Tapping the Vein.

“Power Theory has been looking to add a second dual rhythm/lead guitarist since the end of the recording sessions for “An Axe to Grind”, but our commitments haven’t given us the time to do anything but start to compile a list of potential candidates,” BB explained.

“Steve is a great friend and supporter of the band, and has been a regular at our local shows; in fact he replaced me as the Colossus guitarist and played with Jay Pekala prior to his first Sleepy Hollow tenure. We would always jokingly added Steve as our top candidate when we discussed it, but knew he was very busy with Sleepy Hollow and there was no chance, so we moved on to other names,” added BB. “Steve informed us he had become available in mid July and was interested in jamming to see if there was chemistry and it was evident from the first few minutes it was a great fit for both Power Theory and Steve.”

Immediate plans for the band are 2 area shows in August:
- August 11th, FalloutZine Presents: at O’Reilly’s Pub in Phila – October 31, Anvil Bitch, Sinister Realm, Power Theory, Hammer Fight, and Mistress
- August 19th, Magnetar Media and Biz R Entertainment Present at Jimmy’s Place in Allentown, PA: North American Assault – White Wizzard, Icarus Witch, Widow, Power Theory, and Infernal Opera

We will then take a short break from live shows to start demo tracking for a new full length CD we are planning to start recording in February 2013 and release in 2013 as well. We are currently negotiating with a legendary artist/producer for the project (more to come soon on that). Steve will be a very big part of the writing and recording process for the new album, and we will resume some live shows in October 2012. European dates are being planned for 2013 with Red Lion Music as well as Warriors of Metal Fest VI, and some US tour dates with Axxenstar and Taberah for summer 2013.

"Power Theory are pleased to announce the addition of super talented guitarist Nygil Hoch. Nygil is from the Philadelphia area and most recently attended the prestigious Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, CA.
"Nygil has already cut a solo for a new track to soon be released a single and will be back in the studio with Matt DiFabio and myself on Friday 5/10/13 for more solo recording" according to BB. " I am completely blown away by Nygil's talent, we both have the same influences as players like Ritchie Blackmore, Michael Schenker, and Adrian Smith, and the dynamics of his playing meshing into Power Theory's new material, along with my playing, is epic for us" added BB. Nygil will be dual lead/rhythm but the intent is for him to handle a majority of the lead guitar work, and immediate plans are recording the single and shooting a video, completing the record of the new album "Driven by Fear", playing Warriors of Metal Festival June 29th in Ohio, and a fall U.S. tour with Vicious Rumors, Leather Wolf, and Seven Witches in October."
