Yeah, that's more like it... finally some music to hear as well. Definitely my expectations are getting higher. Especially as Anthem is such a good song. Days of Rage is ok too, but not quite as good. Back to the vid: those screams in Dark City are nice, though they sound much like the Ripper's screams...
However, I'm curious. ![]()

Definitely gets my attention. But I find it kind of amusing that at times the vocals sound like both Matt and Ripper...hmmmm? Stu may have the goods. But sometimes you just need to try new towels...pick a different flavor...test drive a different vehicle. I'm sure it'll work in the end.

Yeah, I know what you mean... though I think Stu sounds somewhat more brutal. Don't know yet if that's a good or bad thing, but it's just a few more weeks until we'll find out.

Though, I meant more big picture going into it...with Jon maybe finding a singer that has a different style than what he has used in the past. Kinda like what Pyramaze did bringing in Matt after Lance...and not someone who was just like Lance so to speak. I get there is alot more that goes into finding / choosing the right singer than appears on the surface. I'm sure IE with Stu will be just fine.

I am a HUGE fan of Stu in Into Eternity, and I have no doubt from the samples I've heard that he will KILL in Iced Earth. Call me convinced this is gonna be an amazing album!

Haha, nice couple on the pic above.
![]() Check that one out: the opening track of the new album I could have sworn that the Stu-era would start with a high pitched scream that lasts for 15 minutes. ![]() I'm glad I was disappointed this time though!!! After the first spin I liked that song, now - after the 4th spin - I can't get enough of it... Thorns, I guess you'r right, we're in for a great album. ![]()

Yeeeaaap yep yep there was never a doubt in my mind that Stucifer would be the perfect voice for Iced Earth.
![]() In all seriousness though, that wasn't far from what I thought when I heard the news that he was joining. Thank you Jon for not letting us down, and thank you Stu for being the new voice for Iced fucking Earth!!! ![]() ![]() |

*is shocked*
Well it doesn't touch everyone's special spots so no biggy. ![]() The box set should be arriving this week. It'd better since I paid out the ass for it. I hope all goes well for Stucifer during the tour and he isn't egged off the stage or anything. Hopefully people embrace him like the perfect fit for Iced Earth that he could very well be. |

Gonna see 'em next Thursday, curious to hear how Stu will bring the older material. I'm actually quite confident that he'll do a good job on it. I caught them this summer with Barlow on tour and that was an awesome show, Matt absolutely nailed it from beginning to end. So yeah, it'll be interesting to see how Stu compares.
As for the new album, haven't checked it out yet, not really excited about it. I said back in 2007 or whenever it was that it got out that Barlow was returning to Iced Earth, that it was gonna take more than a good singer to save IE from poor songwriting, and The Crucible of Man kind of proved that point for me. So with that in mind I don't really have high hopes for the new album. I think Stu is a perfect fit for IE, but Jon's songwriting has evolved over the years in a direction that I don't really like; the music just doesn't do anything for me. That's a matter of personal preference, of course. In any case, I'll check out the new album just so I'm kind of familiar with the songs when I go see 'em next week (downloading now). Who knows, I might be pleasantly surprised. But I'm not counting on it.

Oh well, hopefully they'll play a lot of older stuff tomorrow. Not likely, I know.

Hm, I quite like this album. To me, it's definitely the best one since Horror Show. And though I love the albums with Matt (except Crucible), also on those albums are quite some songs that I often skip. Same with Dystopia. Currently my favorites are: Dark City, Dystopia, Anthem, Boiling Point and V. The ballads and the last songs on the album are not as good though.
And I agree with you all, Stu's vocals are not to blame. I really like his darker voice and to me his middle-ranged voice suits Iced Earth much better Ripper's voice. I hope that this line-up will last for more than just a few months, maybe the songwriting will also get better then. Dystopia to me is a step forward and there are some really nice riffs that let me hope for more in the future. PS: Obsolum, I hope you'll enjoy the show tomorrow.

Pretty cool set list.
Days of Rage would be ok to hear live, but switching it out with Boiling Point would be sweet. Around the same time length and a better chorus + the gang vocals would get the crowd going.
