I think Magic Circle would be a great choice for some doom. Saw them this past weekend at Chaos in Tejas and they ruled. The tunes are great and they are getting very hyped. They'd definitely sell some cross-over tickets because the entire band is made up of people from hardcore bands, so the hardcore crowd is into them.

I was talking to Howie Bentley and he said he would be very interested in playing the 2013 fest, he would be interested in bring Cauldron Born or Briton Rites. The only problem with BR is that Phil lives in CT so thats an extra expense right there, but the rest of both bands live in Georgia. So let's Cauldron Born at this shit, come on Odin and Thor! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J23Yk24gWiw

Brian, that's pretty good. Do they have an official release though? I can't seem to find one.

Magic Circle played in Boston last night and they had about the same number of people watching them as the total Ragnarokkr audience. It helped that they were fucking awesome, too. Their singer = WOW!

They put out a surprise 7'' single at Chaos in Tejas and that's it for now. The full length will come out in late July/early August through Armageddon Records.

What about Doro? She'd make a great headliner.

I would support this.......

Another good headliner or co-headliner might be Saint Vitus, given they have a new release which they have not toured for yet.

I would say as long as they ask for nothing on top of expenses, then sure....

Decent band, but not one that I would recommend they take resources out of their budget to book. Just my opinion though.......

They were on my "fantasy" lineup for the fest. They're a perfect fit, plus they're (now) huge in Japan!

Gotcha. Out of curiosity, of the bands who played last year, which ones would you be "ok" if they asked for something on top of expenses?

I just can't help but want to compare...

I saw St. Vitus twice in one week in May/June, two different cities, two different times, two different settings, two different crowds, two shitty shows.

I seriously did not mean any disrespect to the band by any means.
It just seems like budget is a MAIN concern for the promoters.

I think for any festival who is still in its formative years, the $$$ would have to go towards a true drawing band or an oddball band that would bring in a different crowd.

For this type of fest, there are enough midwest and local bands who would play for expenses or even free who would have the same impact to the overall fest pacakge as WIDOW (That's the main point I was making).

I do know the guys are offering sponsorship opportunities, so if its a band you all want to see, get some folks together to pledge and it could happen.

As far as the band, yes, I do agree they would be a great fit for the fest.

You also think AFI are a good punk band. Nuff said.

"Good" and/or "great" would be very accurate anytime prior to 2003.

No worries, I didn't take it as an insult. I was curious, nothing but that. I completely understand it from a promoter's point of view, but it's also hard to expect a band to travel from afar covering all expenses for a show that's still considered small and developing its following. (no disrespect to the festival whatsoever)
