I watched it yesterday, and let me tell you, it was not much of a contest.

What are you like 80 years old?

Spielberg = Duel, Jaws, Close Encounters, ET, Raiders, Temple of Doom, Schindlers List.

The rest is average -> trash. He lost his touch after Temple...except for Schindlers but I'm sure he was more enthusiastic about that film for personal reasons.

Last Crusade is ok, but it's the weakest of the three. I couldn't get past Connery playing Ford's dad, even though they're only 8 years apart in age or something nuts like that.

I'm on invisible mode? I didn't even realize...ok shall go to profile and change this shitz.

Spielberg and Scorsese have been churning out huddah in the last 15 years.

However, I thought AI was brilliant and very deep ... but I am sure I stand alone on that outlook.

Puke dude, that 8 hour ending totally killed what I liked about AI. If it ended with him underwater, I'd say it was a pretty good flick. As such, I give it two 's up.

you didn't like Gangs of New York? I enjoyed it thoroughly, though it is flawed. It is a beautiful film with a powerful antagonist (or protagonist if you look at it in a different light) in Bill the Butcher. The scenery is great.

But for the life of me, I cannot figure out what Scorsese sees in DiCaprio. He's hardly a bad actor, but he just comes across as eye candy for shallow Americans wanting to see beautiful faces than an actor that can engross himself in a character and truly turn a good film into a classic.

Gangs of New York was OK ... I certainly liked it better than The Aviator .... but neither seems as honest as his early work.

Oddly enough the best thing I liked about AI was the ending sequence ... the whole searching ... there was some beauty there and I liked how he took his time with that scene.
Also you can just "feel" Kubrick in that movie.

I agree on DiCaprio ... I like him in some movies, but have grown tired of his never aging look and quirky acting.

The new movie Scorsese is working on looks promising ... a remake of Infernal Affairs.

Definitely. I just think the last section, while perfectly okay, just ruined the flow and feel of the whole movie for me. Even if I did think the aliens were cool looking.
