What movies have you seen lately, whether it be at the theater or rentals? I've seen these within the past few days:

Jeepers Creepers 2
What a disappointment. In fact, this was crap. The Creeper was cool as hell, but those damn kids were horrible actors given shitty lines. I wanted them all to die. On top of that, the movie wasn't even scary.

Underworld
Another disappointment. The best performance was given by Kate Beckinsdale's sweet ass proudly displayed in tight leather. The plot had great potential, but poor execution. And why the fuck do vampires always look like damn Versace models?

American Wedding
Definitely the worst out of the 3 American Pie films, but still a good time, especially the bachelor party scene. They should have just called this movie The Steve Stifmeister Show. The movie centered around him, while the actual wedding was a background story.

The Last Samurai
A masterpiece, even if it is Dances With Wolves with Tom Cruise and Samurai instead of Indians. Lots of blood, great acting, and a good story. Love the whole "die with honor" thing. One of the best of 2003.

Holy crap Dreamlord I've seen 3 of 4 movies you listed very recently and was going to comment on them. Spooky well maybe not hehe

Underworld: I like this movie for just entertainment value. No there weren't any great character development; and yes it was extremely predictable; but there was something there that just keep me entertained enough to make me happy for it. A sequel seems extremely likely

LOTR ~ Return of the Kings: The final of the three and definitely a classic. I won't get into this movie cause there is a seperate thread for it, but I'll just say this; kept me happy in everyway

American Wedding: It's pretty good but no where near as good as the first two

The Last Samuri: Beautiful imagery done, story line is decent and the character growth was decent. I really great movie indeed

Kill Bill: Huge disappointment, I expected so much more outta it, but found that it just didn't entertain me.

Underworld
For as good as this movie could have been, I was not at all impressed. I watched it once, and forced myself to sit through it for the sheer principal of finishing the movie. I was almost tempted to go to Blockbuster and say the DVD was scratched so I could exchange it.

Return of the King
Really, what more is there to say? Classic.

American Wedding
I loved the dance Stiffler does in the bar. That was great. Mostly because it reminded me of a friend of mine. It was funny. But over all, the worst of the three.

Amelie
Recently saw this, and it wasn't the French love flick I was expecting. It was actually really nice. I liked it. Had some beautiful camera angles, and was filmed pretty off the wall.

Haven't seen The Last Samurai yet. But with two positive reviews, I just might.

I avoided this like the plague for a long time, my buddy forced me to watch it the other night, it was damn funny.

Basketball
Just watched this for the second time, I saw it on opening night 5+ years ago and forgot everything about it so it was like a new movie. Cool.

Idenity
Were I not rip roaring drunk at the time, I would have really enjoyed this movie. Unfortunately, I was. No, make that fortunately. I love being drunk.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Best. Comedy. Ever.

i really like that movie, it's feels so unreal and more like a fairytale even though it takes place in contemporary france. it's so beautiful and nice, a real feel-good movie

at least for me

i recently saw "a beautiful mind" as well, and it was very good. i was surprised to see russel crowe acting that well, i thought he was more of the schwarznegger type after seeing gladiator, but how wrong i was.

"memento". a great film as well, i liked that sort of backwards storytelling and i found it, especially the end, pretty disturbing. recomended anyhow

LOTR: Return of the King - duh.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - worst. movie. ever. And I love comic books.

Daredevil - surprisingly good, and hot damn, Jennifer Garner is now a perma-fixture in my mastubatory fantasies.

The Mighty Wind - fucking brilliant. At first I was like, "huh? How can the Spinal Tap guys make a good movie about folk music?" All I can say is this movie is fucking kick-ass. See it.

And I'm more excited to see Big Fish than I have been about any other movie in a long, long time.

The last three years, I've seen 3 movies in a movie theatre:

* The Lord of the Rings
* The Two Towers
* The Return of the King

...all a bit after their premieres. I must say, they're fucking good. I don't remember all of the two first, but the third was spectacular... Minas Tirith... How the FLYING FUCK do they do these things? The ending (i.e. what happens after the world is saved and all) felt a bit slow but I guess that's there to stay true to the book.

I plan to buy all three on DVD when the inevitable super deluxe 51-disc extended version compilation comes out.

LOL, that's so true. I bought the extended deluxe edition of the first one, then realized it'd be stupid to do that for the 2nd & 3rd, considering they'd surely be released in the "super deluxe 51-disc extended version compilation" as you've pointed out

Then my father went ahead and got me The Two Towers extended special edition for X-Mas, so now I'm stuck anyways.

Oh well, I'll still buy the mega pack. I wonder how many DVDs it will in fact be? Figure each of the special editions is already 4. The trilogy will probably ring in about 15 discs. Yikes.

I don't know why this movie gets the grief that it does. It's funny as hell, has some good acting, and some super hot mamasitas. A little boob action would have been nice, but oh well

Yeah, I was hoping for boob action, but it was still funny. I mean come on, it had Gary Busey's crazy son in it!!!

I have both fancy boxset versions of the first two LOTR, I'm sure I'll get the third, and then of course be fanboy enough to get the 51-disc edition because it'll have an extra 5 minutes of Peter Jackson yelling at crew members or something.

The Music Of Chance- starring James Spader, very good film with a disturbing ending. Saw it late night on tv, about 2 in the morning.

In the theater...

Mystic River- This should win a lot of awards, if it doesn't there is no accounting for taste.

Return Of The King: Too many words, not enough time.

American Wedding: Entertaining, especially when you can drink beer in our theater!

At home:

I've really been diving head first into the 40 something dvds Lloyd Kaufman and Troma have sent me.

Jefftowne: a documentary about a 40 year old man with down's syndrome, lives with his 96 or 98 year old foster mother, who's pretty much wheelchair bound. Jeff hangs out at the local mall movie theater, loves porn, beer, wrestling, and is quite an interesting character. This movie is fascinating.

Chopper Chicks In Zombietown- Billy Bob Thorton's first big role. This movie is pretty funny.

Christmas Evil: Has Fiona Apple's dad as a main character. A classic horror film.

Toxic Avenger 2: Toxie in Japan!

The First Turn On!- Old school Meatballs summercamp type comedy. Has Vincent D'onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Law & Order:CI) in his first appearance.

Cry Uncle!: A 70's flick, almost porn from the future director of Rocky, and Karate Kid and screenplay by David Odell who went on to write The Dark Crystal. Stars Allen Garfield and Paul Sorvino.

Also got Ralph Baksi's Heavy Traffic and Wizards. Awesome 70's anime.

Big Fish was excellent, I recommend it to all. It wasn't at all what I was expecting; there's a lot of comedy in it.

Man, I've been slacking on movies lately; most of the ones I've watched are ones I'd already seen. I'll repent.

its such a shame, this movie starts so good! but then those stupid vampires apear...
what a dumb movie... another zombie flick...
oh well.

DO NOT watch Underworld unless you have a penchant for watching Vampires that look like Gucci models arguing over nothing, and that dude from Felicity flexing his biceps the whole movie.

I repeat, the best performance in this movie was given by Kate Beckinsdale's buttocks.

eh?? That's got to be one of the best turning points in movie history! Fucking Salma Hayek is a goddess. Tarrantino and Robert Rodriguez should do a million more movies together. Grindhouse cinema rules, as does Kill Bill.

Not sure whether it's even worth watching movies now that all three Lord of the Kings films have been released. I mean, how can that lot ever be topped?

Well, I suppose there's the next Star Wars movie.

Besides "Return of the King" the last movie I watched was one of my favorites, "Paint Your Wagon." I doubt anyone has seen it but its damn funny. I also have to mention "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" even though I haven't watched it in awhile because that movie rules too.

I agree with JayKeeley on From Dusk Till Dawn. That movie rules when it changes to a vampire movie. That total shift in plot makes it a classic in my book.

I will also agree, From Dusk Till Dawn doesn't start as far as I'm concerned until the vampire action begins. It also makes a difference to me that as long as Tarantino is on screen, I want to put a screwdriver in my temple. I hate that fucker.
