Top 10 of all time METAL, NON-METAL, EVERYTHING.
Do it.
1. Tool - ÆNIMA The pinnacle of music, the entire reason notes came to be. There is none higher. 2. Danzig 4p The blackest thing in the universe. George Harrison - All Things Must Pass Everyone needs to own this, regardless of musical taste. If you don't like this, you just plain don't like music. Faith No More - Angel Dust An extraordinary feat on so many levels. Some of the most disturbing, beautiful, and introspective pieces of music are found herein, not only creating an utter masterpiece topped only arguably by few but also eliminating much of the massive fan base gained from the über-popular Epic from a few years prior. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magick Primus - Sailing the Seas of Cheese Supertramp - Crime of the Century Probably the most emotional piece of music I've ever heard, proving that prog doesn't haven't to be sterile. Alice in Chains - Dirt Quite possibly the finest vocal performance ever contained on the title track. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral Every time I listen to this since 10 years ago I notice something new about it (including today, noticed some weird bit on I Do Not Want This). So many hidden bits within that make this neverending enigma quite amazing. Megadeth - Rust in Peace The only real worthy real metal album for a Top 10 Of All Freaking Time because it is equally emotional as it is technical and just plain ass kicking. These are the only albums in my collection I'd give higher than a 10/10 to, unless I forgot a few. Also this list does not take into account historical significance, even if a few of these would qualify as moving the art of music forward. Well, this will take some thought. But I know these will make the list:
Janes Addiction - Nothing Shocking PJ Harvey - Dry Beastie Boys - Pauls Boutique Metallica - Ride the Lightning (or Puppets) Faith No More - Angel Dust Soundgarden - Louder Than Love Black Sabbath - Master of Reality AC/DC - Powerage (or Let There Be Rock) I'll have to give it some thought and be back later to add the rest. And maybe swap some out. |

I really don't know, but these would qualify:
Arcane Sun - Arcane Sun (of course) Jeff Buckley - Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk Neurosis - Times of Grace Those are really the only albums that blow me away every time I listen. Every note, every vocal line is right where it should be. And every tme I listen to them, I find something new within the music even after owning them for years (for AS and Neurosis, anyway), and there is no higher praise that can be bestowed than that. |
