The pressure to always be perfect, around the clock, to hardly sleep in order to meet deadlines or be the perfect provider for a customer or whatever. No wonder people get burnout or snap or murder people.
I just got back form 2 weeks of camping, drinking and making firewood. No work. No clocks. Woke up with the sun (or the sound of the tarp over my tent snapping in the high winds). A bit of manual labour, hours of lazing around a fire and good food. Drinking: constant, but relaxed. It was a great holiday and relatively cheap. |

Ohh man I could totally go off on a twelve thousand page rant about how fucked up and backwards society in our modern world is, but you know. Suffice to say I spent a good deal of last year living, for the most part, off the grid, and it ruled beyond belief. I've been back east visiting for a month and I do not miss a thing here, aside from old friends. In the last 12 months I've spent less than $5000 on total life expenses, and I can probably cut that number in half this year if things work out great.

clients are super demanding nowadays, I think mostly because their own businesses might not be running the best they can so they are on the edge as well. |

In other news, my rage at outsourcing has reached anew level. We have to let a colleague go (who works hard, cares, and does a good job) as we can't put her on another team(no space available). She was born in malaysia, and speaks fluent english and german, yet with a strong accent.Customers complain about once a weak, because they automatically thing we have outsourced to a useless asian/african country when they get somebody with an non european/amercan accent on the phone. There are a few guys in the UK side who were born in african countries, and they've also had experiences with racism (in person) and suspicion of outsourcing when they were on the phone with the customers. Again, highly competent and really great colleagues. Luckily they are technician guys, whereas my colleague is just beginning. Fuck corporations. |

Happiness comes from within. Fuck careers and classes and counselors and whatever. Think long and hard about what really makes you happy, realize that it's hell's metal and hanging out with loved ones, and start doing that a lot and produce more loved ones and hell's metal.

speaking of outsourcing ... had deal with a data recovery co. recently that had an 800 local US number but were clearly in Bangalore.
Indian dudes picking up the phone named, Paul, Dave, Prince and Joe if I remember correctly ... that shit always killed me. btw, did any of you watch the film OUTSOURCED? ... great flick. |

Bingo. NOTHING external will ever make someone truly happy, perhaps fleetlingly happy at best.
Striving for happiness is an oxymoron. lol @ the rest of your post.

have a question for the tough guys in the crowd.
recently an old friend of mine from HS friend requested me on FB. lost touch with this kid literally after leaving HS 20 or so years ago but back then we used to hang out a lot. during that time, one morning I woke up and found both the front and back windows of my car broken. had no idea of the reason at the time, nothing was missing but it sure looked like a deliberate breaking. didn't have any enemies in school or around the nabe and the whole thing was perplexing. never really looked that much into it and left it as some random act of vandalism. not that long ago, some years ago, another old friend of mine told me it was this kid that did it at the time, seemingly he was pissed that I did not give him and a few other people a ride to some show a few nights before. this kid had a really fucked up family life at the time and was always walking around pissed off so I would not put it past him thinking back at the situation. anyway, so present day he friend requests me on FB and now he and some other old friends from HS are planing some drinking session this weekend that I was also invited to. can't make it as I have other commitments, but kind of want to go to exchange some words with this guy. not sure what i would say or bring up, but would want to see his reaction if I bring up this old incident and if he was the one that did it. what do you guys think? Okay then. Well I suggest you say fuckit and go to the shindig. Wait until you are half-in-the-bag at this drinking party to approach him. (this always makes it a bit more interesting) He will obviously not admit it and be intimidated by your gargantuan herculean stature at which point you smash your bottle through his face and physically drag him outside, followed by throwing him through HIS front car windshield. Justice will be served and your mental quibs shall be quelled.
Until your wife beats YOUR ass for being such an asshole and putting your family security/welfare at risk over an incident that occurred 20 years ago and should have long been water under the bridge. ![]() Just keep your distance from this idiot and surround yourself with good people forevermore.

now that's more like it. thanks!
but all kidding aside, I wasn't looking to kick anyone's ass but rather just make him confess and apologies. of course it might have come to a fight if alcohol and testosterone levels were raised. I am waiting for Plastic's and Alina's advice ![]() |

I agree with DOOOOOOOM and Dorian. Let it go. 20 years is literally a lifetime ago. Mr. Guy probably already feels like a dick about it (assuming he's gotten a clue since then). Plus, like DOOOOOOOM said, you have a family to consider. Even if your intention is just to bring it up and ask WTF, dickweed might make a scene of some sort that could adversely affect the lovely people in your life.

Dude. It's like you're standing in my spare room, looking at my to-do list and all of the pictures of her scattered around the room. Maybe you're me. Crazy. If so, I'm hungry.
