$2500 is a little out of my price range for some speakers that my son will probably put a hole in.
Those Alexandrias are hilarious. Post some more pics of outlandish stuff, lurch.

Btw, I noticed Yamaha still makes 2 channel stereo receivers. What would be the point of these? Isnt the market already saturated with 7.1 channel amps? What possible advantage could a 2 channel amp give? They're not even cheaper. Curious.

I went to the Synthesis website. Shit is professionally installed and calibrated. Just kinda reinforces my thought that there's no point in owning a surround sound system unless it's in the right room - which 99% of homeowner's don't have.

That shit's absurd. It's basically the same philosophy behind purchasing art. You do because you can. Frankly, I think there is something terribly wrong with an economic system that allows a select few to buy $110,000 speakers. I'm not a communist or socialist but the disparity in wealth is alarming.

Is this the thread in which I asked about soundbar type speakers? I can't seem to find the post and I'm too lazy to look at length for it. Anyway, anyone have experience with these? Do they work? I've pretty much lost interest in the whole home theater silliness but I've been holding out for years for new speakers and now I finally have a place to put them. I was going to get a pair of Polk floorstanding speakers for music but there would be no surround experience for movies. But if those sound bars dealies can reproduce music appropriately, then I should probable get one of those instead. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems as if stereo and surround aren't interchangeable. Music sounds like shit on underpowered surround speakers and this 7.1 Blu-ray baloney is wasted on stereo speakers. Fuck this. Where's VHS?

whay are you looking into this soundbar speaker? I don't think they're adequate for anything in particular ... they were designed for space saving and aesthetics first and foremost.

I was just wondering how they sound with music. I'm looking at some Polk floorstanding speakers but they have no surround capabilities whatsoever. Personally, having lived 32 years without surround sound I think I can continue to go without.
