The Arghoslent Lyrics Poll

Just kind of curious how everyone feels about bands with quality music, but lyrical themes similar to Arghoslent's?

Zod

EDIT: Yes... I realize "theme's" should have an apostrophe.

I don't really care about their lyrics, honestly. I've supported much worse people over the years (Varg Vikerness, Varggoth and the rest of Nokturnal Mortum, Rob Darken, various Vinland Winds stuff, No Colour Records and most of their stuff, the entirety of Temnozor', and just about every member of that early Norwegian scene full of racist church burning homophobes), that I'd feel hypocritical if I were to have any problem with Arghoslent.

I would say more enjoyable, but obviously not for the reason of agreeing with the overall message being conveyed. I think that the lyrics are well-written and earnest and go well with the music. I appreciate the overall artistic expression that the band means to convey, and that is irrelevant to whether or not I agree with it.

Well spoken, I'm with you. What matters is how it feels, not if one agrees.

It shouldn't have an apostrophe if you're referring to the plural form of "theme", which I think you are, so you were right from the start. Right?

Yeah, no apostrophe. "Themes" isn't in possession of anything in the context. If it were to be "The lyrical theme's content" or something similar, an apostrophe would be used, but that wording would be odd anyway since theme and content in that context are reiterating the same point.

I used to read along with lyrics, especially when I would first get an album. These days, I hardly ever do. I just don't give a shit these days.

I used to only refuse to listen to things based upon it's lyrics if they were just appallingly lame and cringe worthy (i.e. boo-hoo poor me, I love the greatest girl in the world, etc). Actually, I think that might be one of the things that lead me to metal. I couldn't understand wtf they were singing so even if the lyrics were horrible, I didn't know so I didn't care. Now-a-days, I figure I shouldn't be too picky. If I never listened to bands with retards and/or shitty lyrics, I'd have almost nothing to listen to.

LOL. So I guess I followed up my typo with a poorly written explanation. I simply meant to pluralize it. So it shouldn't have had the apostrophe. I wasn't trying to show possession. Just a typo, which the site doesn't let me edit.

An interesting take and very well stated.
