Forcefed Trauma - Enslaved In Hatred

Forcefed Trauma - Enslaved In Hatred
Gomek.com - 014 - 2006
By Brandon Strader

From the death metal epicenter of America (California), Forcefed Trauma bring more generic hardcore to Gomek--yet Enslaved In Hatred was recorded in a studio. They basically play hardcore music but with death grunts instead of the whiny scream style that most hardcore / metalcore bands are using. Sadly, the album was also mixed in a death metal way, i.e. the vocals are loud and the guitars are damn near inaudible. They're so quiet that you're basically listening to the grunts and drums.

It's obvious that the band can get a crowd moving with their pummeling style, yet in a musical sense, they seem almost untalented and uncoordinated. "Blinded By Greed" has the first attempt at a solo which is very uninspired and basic... Plus, due to the tone and volume of the solo, it sticks out above everything else and really causes a moment of nastiness.

After hearing Enslaved In Hatred, you may wonder if the dudes over at Big Bang Studio have ever mixed death metal before... Everything has an unfavorable tone, and the kick drum is too loud and has a lame tone as well. It's easy to blame the mix for the uninspired and emotionless sound of the recordings, yet the performances of Forcefed Trauma themselves probably weren't too good to begin with.
