pretty much NONE of the best producers/engineers master their own work. why would they? not having the $$$ is the only reason to master your own stuff
posting the original mix/master would be helpful.

in reality, this is why good mastering is so important. but you're right, you don't have to spend a fortune on it. getting a fresh perspective is...
maybe you shouldn't be mastering your own tracks...
definitely sounds like they're compensating for bad monitoring. I think if you ask them to not credit you due to the bad mastering, it might send...
