I have a few suggestions more on the fusion front; but all have a metal side to them
Matalex Wild Indian Summer
Carpathia Project (Just Awesome) Combines Hungarian music with fusion and touches of metal
Counter World Experience If you like 7 for 4 you should love this band; a bit more metal based as well
The first Gordian Knot album
Spaced Out (The bass player is one of the best I heard)
Zeroesque
Fragile Live (Simply blistering guitar work)
On The Virg Serious Young Insects (Awesome)

Is Fragile Live the name of the band or is Fragile the name of the band and it's a live album?

The Fractuded Dimension from US (very eclectic mix of prog rock, prog & tech metal + some classical music) they have a CD, TOWARDS THE MYSTERIUM featuring Ron Jarzombek (among other guests) on one of their tracks. http://www.myspace.com/thefractureddimension

You may also find interesting Drottnar's Welterwerk album from 2006, very interesting technical / experimental / extreme metal.

Hehe . . . so many fans of "Math Metal" :D

Its soo crazy that (I dont think) I've seen anyone mention "Watchtower"
(well sort of in the 1st post . . . nevermind ).

And its VERY cool that I see a lot of Bands mentioned that I like,
I am very glad many know of them all (and some I'll have to find!).
>>> WARNING- Just a Fan, don't work for the Station <<<
I can also recommend to check out my friends at PrOgulus.com.
Its a Prog Rock/Metal Internet Station that has just about every "Sub-
Genre" of Progressive Rock, and I know I just made about 15 more
addicted fans to be
LOTS of "Math Metal" and Tech/Prog Metal! . . .
You can always ask the fine "PrOguli" at the Live Chat-Board on the
site about bands, recommendations and so-on. And also see their
Forums. Its a totally FREE site and very hands on Request controls and
an un-godly amount of Prog. And we have a fair share of Math Metal
fans too! Also, 90% of the CD's at PrOgulus are "Donated' by the
listeners so we are a very close-nit group.

As far as bands that maybe too extreme or just havent made it there
yet, heres some old and new Bands (Tech/Thrash, Math/Death Metal etc.
either melodic or "cookie"/scream vocals):
1. Realm
2. Sabbat(u.k.) -"Mourning has Broken"

5. Obscura
6. Arsis

12. Loudblast
13. Gardenian
14. Confessor (Slow, Chuggy, Stop on a dime, Odd-metered but man!
the Drummer makes it "Math Metalish" . . . how do they do that?)
15. Darkane
16. Deathrow -"Deception Ignored"
17. Secrecy (VERY hard to find)
18. I.N.C. (Another hard to find)
19. Theory In Practice
20. Fredrik Thordendals Special Defects
21. Alarum
22. Psytroptic
23. Toxic
24. Paradox (Just got re-mastered!)
25. Tournaquet
26. Extol
27. Ihsahn - angL (My God! its awesome! and Lars and Asgeir

@ MAVIII 10x, Cloudkicker sounds quite nice

Pestilence had an album called "Spheres" released in 1993 where they moved towards a more prog & tech death metal (complex time signatures, guitar synth, fretless bass etc...)

Also, Obscura's new album called "Cosmogenesis" (featuring 2 ex-Necrophagist members + the ex-Pestilence bass player from the Spheres album on 6-string fretless bass) is a quite nice album. They play a prog-tech death with some melodic and fusion touches.
